“Great experience at La Loggia”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

We spent three nights at La Loggia and had a terrific experience. We stayed in the Artists Studio, a below-ground space that has been lovingly transformed from a working artists studio into a well-designed, bright, comfortable space. The room (and the entire property) is full of eclectic paintings and other art objects ranging from serious to quirky and everything in between. Careful detail has been paid to each nook and cranny and it shows.
La Loggia sits in a great neighborhood with lots of art shops, small eateries, and tons of local flavor. It's also only a short walk from the Metro which gives you access to the entire city.
The innkeepers were super-friendly and provided us with lots of suggestions for sight-seeing, rainy-day activities, and neighborhood restaurant recommendations, all of which turned out to be quite good. Continental breakfast each morning featured yummy cheeses, fresh bread, jams, yogurt, and fruit, with an emphasis on local producers. At breakfast one morning we mentioned that we had yet to try any of the famous Montreal bagels and the very next morning there were a bag-full of fresh bagels waiting for us at the table. It's this level of personal service and attention to detail that makes La Loggia great.
Two big thumbs-up

The location is fantastic, and the hosts were terrific. It's within walking distance to several attractions, and a few blocks from the Metro. The 'petit dejeuner' (breakfast) each morning was great. We had yogurt, fresh fruit, local artisan bread, soft-boiled eggs, local jams/spreads, and good coffee. It was especially nice to meet and talk with the other diverse travelers over breakfast. We met other couples and individuals from Europe, Caribbean, Canada and the United States. The room was private, clean and quiet with a very comfortable bed. We slept better at this location than the many other more expensive hotels in Europe, Asia and North America.

We stayed at La Loggia in early September and booked the cottage room which was cozy and comfortable. The B&B is well-situated and we walked just about everywhere. The continental breakfast was perfect and we found it to be a highlight of the day; the relaxed-style made us linger over breakfast and we found ourselves getting to know other guests and our lovely hosts. Rob and Joel are terrific -- their attentiveness, knowledge of and passion for the city, and the interest they take in their guests made the trip extra special. We’ll definitely go back when we return to Montreal!

In September, I stayed in the Romantic room for 6 days. Beautiful renovation of an east end house with great attention to detail. Very quiet room, beautiful linens, and a wonderful bed. Breakfast was served on the garden deck in the back of the house. Fruit, cheese, yogurt, juices, healthy bread, soft-boiled eggs, honey, etc. At the start of my stay Rob told me that breakfast was served until the last guest arrived. I successfully tested this statement.

Montréal is home for me but work has me living on the other side of the continent in Seattle. Rob and Joel are wonderful hosts, very kind and spent each morning speaking with guests at breakfast. For visitors they are very knowledgeable about the city, its history, various attractions, and restaurants. For me, they were part of a valuable 'welcome home' experience.

We arrived after midnight and Rob was up waiting for us. Each morning breakfast was served outside on the deck, surrounded by art and foliage, where we'd chat with Rob and Joel. We also visited Joel's amazing sculpting studio a few blocks away. The B+B location was great, we were about 2 blocks from the Metro and walking distance to many things; not in a tourist area, but a real neighborhood, which we prefer. Montreal is young, clean, active and friendly, along with great food, parks, shops, microbrews and cheeses. I highly recommend La Loggia if you're going to Montreal, you won't be disappointed!

We stayed in the Garden Room for two nights (wish we could have stayed longer).
So very quiet, beautiful linens very comfortable. Wonderful breakfast in the garden.
This B and B is perfect. Joel and Rob were great hosts with lots of information on what to visit.
If I am ever back in Montreal this is where we would stay.

We found this B&B at the last minute with plans on staying in Montreal for 2 nights. Well clearly that was not going to be enough time. With Rob's wealth of information for sites to see and activities in the area our stay was extended. Starting out with a serve yourself breakfast of wholesome fresh breads, fruit and delicious cheeses we were off site seeing either by foot or using Montreals bikes. Thanks Rob and Joel for a memorable visit to Canada. Kari and Dan. Oregon, WI

Room Tip: There is no swimming pool but I can't uncheck it
