The pear burger is just great! Best plant based patty I’ve ate. I also liked the hummus, it was special, but for sure the best I’ve ate in my whole life as well!

It's hard to get a 5-bubble score from this seasoned Tripadvisor reviewer but Antidote came out of left field and made our day. Following a busy morning touring Chateau Dufresne and Olympique Park we gave this casual, chic and off-beat spot a try. It honestly was not even on our radar because it's nowhere close to Old Montreal where we were staying, but our sightseeing itinerary demanded a 100% plant-based restaurant for lunch in this neighborhood.

We received a warm and friendly greeting despite our language barrier (few tourists or Americans frequent this spot). We started out with the Tomato Soup, which was rich, chunky and hit the spot. The Smoked Meat sandwich and the Vege Pate sandwich were both delicious, and they came with a small salad and sauteed potatoes, all on the same plate. This was a filling, homey and professionally executed vegan meal that is not to be missed when in Montreal.

I love going to Antidote Bouffe Végane, the plates are extremely generous and there are many gluten free option. Food is tasty and varied.

Accent is put on using local produce and products as well, the Ontario street has a very charming ambiance of locality.

NOTE: We are not practicing vegans, and, as such, this review is from the point of view of an "outsider".

We visited Antidote Bouffe Vegane on a Sunday morning for brunch. We were a group of five: one vegan and four not.

We were impressed by the restaurant when we walked in. Well-lit, welcoming, and fairly spacious. The service was friendly and helpful. (One member of our party felt that she was misinformed: the server stated that the pancakes (crêpes) were buckwheat, which seemed not to be the case,)

We order a wide selection from the menu: including the "assiette brunch", French toast, crêpes, burritos. The vegan amongst us was quite impressed. The others, perhaps a little less: the so-called omelette (made with chick pea flour) had only a passing resemblance to an omelette, and should have borne another name (chick pea pancake perhaps?) The potatoes were excellent, as was the home-made blueberry jam.

The restaurant was seemed to be full on this Sunday morning. Nevertheless, the ambient noice did not prevent us from conversing one with the other.

Bonus: interesting artwork on the walls (an exhibition of art with an "animal" theme had recently opened.
