“Open mic is amazing on Sunday night”
Reviewed February 11, 2013 via mobile

Came here on a Sunday night because of all the great reviews I saw here. Every Sunday night they have open mic where local college crowd plays guitar and sing. I was pleasantly surprised since they didn't sound like amateur but like professional performers. Beer is also very good and at a reasonable price.

Thank Alex F

“Good Beer, Good Prices”
Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

Brutopia (Bru) is a small brewpub that is located in Montreal's downtown core. Located close to Concordia's downtown campus, it's convenient for anyone who works, travels, wanders in that area. Although they serve food (the sandwiches being pretty damn good), the main attraction is the beer. This review will concentrate solely on the beer and atmosphere.

The beer is made in house. Always available are the IPA, honey beer, nut brown, honey brown, blonde, and raspberry. All are good but the IPA is one of Montreal's best. It has the right amount of bitterness and hops one expects from a proper IPA. The honey ale is good too, being made with local Quebec honey.

Besides the regulars, there are always at least two or three seasonal beers. These vary but examples include stouts, scotch ales, cherry beer, honey-wheat ales, unfiltered IPAs. The head brewer doesn't believe in beer styles, rather he just makes beer, gives it a unique name, and serves it.

Prices are great. A pint usually runs anywhere from five to eight dollars with happy hour deals available every day. You can easily catch a live band and Monday has been designated a trivia night. For good beer, good prices, good music in a great central location, Bru is the place to be.

Great beer, often a live band, good music, old pub look, nice staff, cool people around, fun place to go with friends.

“We'll come back!”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

Our second visit to Montreal, and our second trip to this brew-pub. Can't get enough of this place, and I only wish we could bring the Raspberry Beer home with us! (By the case please?!).
This time we had the classic burger (so good!) And the beef sandwhich, which was also very good.
Of special note, the wait staff are very awesome. Particularly liked their Halloween costumes (this past Saturday). Nemo!

“Good beer, bad Cubano sandwich...”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

OK, this pub was not far from the Marriott we stayed in, and since we were on our "Saints and Sinners" Montreal Tour (meaning churches during the day and pubs at night) we thought we'd give this a try.

Well, the beer is good and that's what you come to a brew pub for. But the Cubano sandwich left a lot to be desired. My French isn't that good, even non-existent, but I thought a Cubano sandwich translated to a Cuban sandwich. Well, the pork was thick and chewy and there was no ham on it. Plus they put avocado on it, which is not on a "Cuban" sandwich. Try something else if you come here to get a bite to eat. Otherwise, drink the night away with good beer!!!
