It is one of the best Chinese restaurant we have tried in Montreal. The flavor is very very close to the food you can find in restaurant in China. Simple and organized menu with all real Chinese food. We ordered the fried duck and cumin lamb, they were excellent. The dandan noodle was like homemade style. Tofu soup was a good starter. Some food can be quite spicy, but you can always negotiate the spicy level with the waitress. If you want to simply experience some real Chinese food, our suggestion, go for it.

Even if the inside of the restaurant doesn't look great, the food is very good. A lot of people who lived in China go there because they say it reminds them the food there and I agree as I also just come back from Asia. Some really spicy plates but also more mild ones. If you love real chinese food, you have to try it. Service is nice and polite.

And the Shredded Pork with Garlic sauce is my favorite dish in Montreal. I've eaten here at least half a dozen times and never been disappointed.

Really disappointed after reading all the hype about this restaurant. We ordered the won ton soup, dumpling in peanut sauce, sesame beef, salt crispy shrimp and spicy chicken plate. Only the shrimp disk is worth the money. I have had better wonton and dumpling at other cheap eats nearby. The sesame beef is totally blank. The spicy chicken plate is very salty, very spicy and the flavor is overpowered by too much anise seeds.

Schezuan cuisine is supposed to be spicy, tasty and flavorful. Too bad the balance is not there at Niu Kee.

These are spices you have never experienced. Not burn your tongue off hot, but tingling pepper corn spice that resonates all night long. I've eaten there about 10 times and always walk away feeling happy and satisfied. We rave about it constantly to our friends.
If you love spicy foods that are not typical asian fare, Niu Kee is for you.
