I have been going to Benny's for many many years since it was a small Shawarma shop on Queen Mary, in fact I saw Benny behind the counter just yesterday. Since then it has evolved into a much more robust experience. The food is great, tons of home made Middle Eastern salads to choose from as side dishes or as a main course.
The signature dish is still the chicken Shawarma served either in a Lafa pita (large rolled pita) or on a plate with fries and Middle Eastern salads. There are also many other grilled meats to choose from or if you are a vegetarian the falafel plates are great.
The restaurant now also includes a sushi counter (sorry, no shrimp) and a Chinese wok menu. All in all a wide range of food to choose from.
As far as price is concerned be prepared to pay more that the average street Shawarma you might get at Amir. A Shawarma plate is $15.00 but it's huge and comes with fries and a separate plate of salads like hummus and baba ganoush. No one leaves this place hungry.
Highly recommended for a quick lunch or a family dinner. The atmosphere is typical to a counter served restaurant, no waiters or much fluff. Be aware that sometimes this place can get awfully crowded. Biteavon.
