The recent review by maddog305 is right on. My wife and I love going to places like this. Just read the other reviews and you will see why you need to check this restaurant out. PS-the name of the restaurant in English is The Two Monkees of Montarvie!

This place is amazing. Edgy décor with a just as edgy staff and food. The food and wine selections are top notch. Small, romantic setting with great music set in a gem of a neighborhood. Portions are generous and time between courses is perfectly timed. Book early!

Our first two minutes in the restaurant set the marker high for a personalized experience - we had reserved under my name and when we were greeted, shown to a table with a nameplate that had my name on it! The meal, the service and most certainly the food were quintessential Montreal: every detail seemed to be thought through with painstaking care, from the nameplate, to the hand-crafted cocktails, the small yet well paired wine list and the trays of fresh herbs growing on the bar. The food was to die for...insanely good. We should have skipped the french bread that was sliced, lightly toasted and served with fresh salted butter - but even the bread was incredible! We shared the consomme with dumplings soup - light, delicate thai flavor - and then we had the grilled endive and tartare. The tartare was truly first class - molded atop avocado with small fresh egg and bread crumbs on top. The main courses were Milk-Fed Veal and Pork Belly. The entrees were wonderfully designed and the food was superb. Stan Getz playing in the background was perfect. Desserts looked wonderful but it was late so we passed. The restaurant is small, quaint yet not at all crowded with an open kitchen to the main seating area.

We preface our reviews by saying that we rarely give a rating of 5 - excellent. Les Deux Singes deserves this rating. We have eaten in top restaurants around the world and we return to Montreal once a year for the Grand Prix, and dinner at Les Deux Singes has become a required part of the weekend. This year we felt that the food had been taken up a notch with wonderful creativity and excellent presentation and taste. The service is attentive and charming. We started with the house special cocktails and continued with bottles from their excellent wine selection. Between the six of us we sampled a large fraction of the menu and no one was disappointed. We are already looking forward to our visit next June.

This crew are culinary Rock Stars and you are watching them perform! The food is unbelievably great with fresh herbs and edible flowers. Like they are making music and a statement through the food...and I get it! I love it! Simply put, Go to this restaurant! And, realize that this is not a large restaurant so if you make reservations and cannot go please cancel your reservation so someone else can get in as they have a waiting list! Open kitchen, cozy atmosphere and the focus is on the food, they blew me away! I will be back and hope this rock star group is still there! So much talent! I had the bison tartare and the sea bass with cous cous and edible flowers along with Pinot Noir La Princesse Maudito Maison Laboure 2012 and Saumu Domaine Langlois-Chateau 2011. I cannot wait until I go back!
