“Incredible sushi in very tight quarters”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

The sushi here is not only delicious, but refreshingly original. The sashimi tartar has just enough spicy punch, topping a salty rice cracker - brilliant. The 'craquant' - deep fried nori roll - is also a must have - hot, crunchy and fresh. Haven't had a bad bite.

The atmosphere is great but this could be a sticking point for some - expect to get nudged while you eat. With the steady traffic of folks picking up take-out orders, in very tight quarters, there is little room for the staff to get around. It's definitely an experience, but takes some getting used to.

“Simply THE best sushi I ever ate!”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

If you are to try only one restaurant in Montreal, this is where to go.

The owner / suhi chef is truly a master at his art.
In my opinion, the blend of tastes and textures is unequaled and presentation is quite creative too.

Tri Express is located in a quiet part of the fashionable Plateau Mont-Royal area, which is a nice way to discover what sets Montreal appart from other North American cities, both in terms of quality of life and in the outstanding number of good restaurants.

“One of the best”
Reviewed June 14, 2012 via mobile

I am lucky in that i live one block from Tri. And it is my go to sushi place. Eating in can be a pain as its quite small, but i use their take out. On a nice day, ill do take out and head 4-5 blocks west on Laurier to the parc and have a little picnic.

Food is just great, nothing more to say

“Sushi delight”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

One of the best sushi places in town! Creative, exotic, eclectic. They are redinfing sushi in a place so small that you feel lucky to be sitting there. You need a reservation! So many things to choose from on the menu, I always ask the owner to choose the best items for me and my friends. Trust me, he knows is stuff.

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed May 26, 2012

Tired of the typical zen-like sushi restaurants? Head to Tri Express for a unique dining experience. This tiny restaurant in Mile End is eccentrically decorated with pieces from art galleries and garage sales. And when I say tiny, take my word for it. It is. If small spaces aren't for you, they pump out take-out orders like nobody's business.
The sush is good. The menu has a nice variety of sushi, sashimi and maki rolls . Chef Tri has come up with his own interesting creations. His specialties are indicated with "a la Tri" on the menu. Worth trying is " lobster maki a la tri".
Reservations are a must. If you're going in the winter don't bring a bulky jacket because there may not be room for it. I don't know if there is A/C in the summer, so a sticky dining experience is possible!
