“More reputation than substance”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

Went here to watch Ireland-France rugby final. $20 just to get in the door, includes a pint. They grossly over-filled the place with people, although the people were very enthusiastic which was good. Service was slow to non-extant, even if you stood at the bar looking for a bartender, food was self-serve downstairs and was not cheap and was sub-par - lukewarm fries and a very plain, overcooked veggie burger, plastic packets of condiments. Pints were expensive, and when I gave $4.00 for a $2.75 glass of soda water (not even a pint full, just a regular glass) the bartender did not return with change. Even the game atmosphere (lots of supporters of both sides) couldn't make up for it. Not likely to return.

“My kind of pub!!!”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

Stopped in Hurley's recently for a few drinks. It was everything I would have expected of an Irish pub. Love the atmosphere here!!! They offer a good selection of beer on tap. The staff was friendly and service was good. Love listening to the live entertainment. This place will probably be my favorite while staying in Montreal!!!!

“Home away from home!”
Reviewed February 11, 2014

Awesome staff, lots of things to try on tap, great atmosphere, and always awesome music. It's such a friendly place. Doesn't matter if there is 10 people there on a Monday or it's a jam packed Friday night, Hurley's is an awesome time! It's the best Irish bar in Canada, and thats coming from a Newfoundlander!

“Nice Irish Pub in Montreal”
Reviewed February 6, 2014

I loved this place while I was in town because it's on Crescent and they all speak English to you first thing when you come in, which makes me feel a bit more at home.

Great beer selection, live music every night. I would sit upstairs most of the time so that I could eat, and not have to be a part of the live music downstairs.

I had two dinners here, and they were both really good pub-grub type food. I had a burger one night, and a special "American" super bowl option which was a buffalo-chicken sandwich. One of the workers asked me if it was "authentic," told him the chicken was too high grade ;).

Staff is great, lots of fun people to talk to around here, and it was busy until late in the night both times I visited. Would recommend if you're an Anglo in Montreal looking for somewhere to fit in.

“Not enough room for the crowd.”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

Forget about having a conversation or trying to hear yourself think. I know that sounds like it should be standard advice for any pub -- but there is a way to design a place where there is still room to move, sound baffles to allow for some conversations around your own table, and not so crowded passageways. Seating at tables was not comfortable. Decent music and staff, but staff waste everyone's time by not allowing credit card tabs. It's a famous venue, but it needs some work.
