If ever there was an institution in Montreal, this is it. It is not uncommon for people to walk in and ask for 6+ dozen bagels at a time, just so they can bring them home. Torontonians who are former Montrealers always make sure they stop in on their way back home. Guess why?

Every time I go to Montreal, I always make a stop over here! The bagels are so fresh and delicious! They freeze well so don't be afraid to buy and stock up!

When we told friends we were visiting Montreal, they said we must visit. But bagels? You can find bagels all over the world. We've been to New York. We thought we had the best. NO! There is absolutely nothing like the bagels here. When we were in Montreal, we returned three days out of our 5-day trip. Great staff. Very helpful (for those who don't speak French as a first language). Lots of food for the price and very, very tasty. A year later, I still crave those bagels. I'm happy to see (after checking the website) that they will mail them. Ordering right after this.

The bagels are great when its fresh and hot / warm but if they sit too long and get hard then they're not that easy to chew on. In that case, cut them up and toast them with butter and slap on the cream cheese and bacon or smoked salmon and you have another meal.

We are from NYC, and the St.-Viateur Bagel gives our favorite bagel shops a run for their money (as all of the hype suggests). The still-hot bagels were truly delicious. The most unexpected part of our visit was the kindness and generosity of the man behind the counter. He was so friendly and helpful, making suggestions about places to visit in and around Montreal. We won't ever come to montreal without a visit.
