Whereas the service at many dim sum restaurants in the city tends towards the downright hostile, all the wait staff here seem genuinely pleased to see their customers. Tables are packed into a large open space, ornately decorated, with flat-screen TVs showing old Chinese movies (volume off). It's all delightfully random and somewhat chaotic, but that is part of the charm of this place, and we always have a wonderful time. The range of dim sum dishes is very broad, so those with an adventuresome palate will have the opportunity to try unusual and authentic delicacies.
Although Ruby Rouge is always busy on weekends, they have so many tables that you never have to wait too long for one to open up, even without a reservation. Having tried many other dim sum restaurants in Montreal, this is the one we now prefer and visit regularly.
