No questions asked, Le Renoir is certainly one of the best venue I had an experience in montreal.
We were there for the urban sugar shack and we enjoyed it the most ! The food, the music... Everything was there to add a critical ingredient in this delicious alchemy..

We went to Le Renoir restaurant for dinner last night and it was absolutely amazing! The maple menu is a MUST. Everything was really delicious - a special mention must be made about the grilled octopus appetizer, simply divine.. The service is worthy of the greatest, everything was brought out at a perfect pace. The atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxed.
Overall, a wonderful experience, I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Something was clearly wrong at Renoir/LeBar on the night we stopped in for a light meal and some cocktails. Tables were empty and piled with dirty plates. Chairs were scattered about. We ended up sitting by the exit as it was the only clean table. Ordered weak and expensive cocktail...and then were served the worst mini-hamburgers in history. The Montreal Canadiens could have used them as hockey pucks. When asked how are meal was I told the barmaid/waitron who informed me that "It's Quebec law that meat is served well-done." Hate being lied to. When she took away our food and realized that I hadn't chewed the pucks she said she wasn't going to charge us. We put the bill on our room and guess what? She charged us. Sofitel is known for its service and our stay in the hotel was lovely but our experience with the food service? Horrible.

Yuk. This is where a 4.5 would be helpfull. First, I really like this set-up, with high ceilings, spacious look. I also am always impressed with the presentation of the food, including the always cool choice of verrine-size desserts (a must). And the service is full of attention while verry efficient and not at all pretentious. Prices are pretty in line too for that quality level. And there is a nice wine selection. So...the only negative tainting my otherwise superb experience was...the taste of the food itself! Not that it was necessarily bad, but my cevice tasted more like vinegar than anything else, while my fish was perfectly cooked but tasteless (missing spices or something) and even the dessert was not that tasty this time...maybe is because I opted for the "de-light" lunch menu? Cause I really think it is a fantastic idea to offer healthy choices and smaller portions at the restaurant if you are often exposed to it...but for some reason it came this time with some fadeness...maybe better with the burger or the mac and cheese next time lol

Very fine cuisine. Nouvelle cuisine - small portion, but very good quality and extremely aesthetic display of food. The menu is very creative. The design of the location is modern with great atmosphere. You can choose between having a full meal or just have coffee/tea with creative deserts. Open until very late, as it is part of the hotel.

Always make sure to have a reservation, but drop-in are accepted to the bar.
