“What a find!”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

We arrived at the Sofitel after traveling all day. We were tired and hungry and didn't want to go far but don't usually trust a hotel restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. We shown to a nice table and once we ordered cocktails, were brought some good 'nibbles'. Dinner was excellent. I had the halibut and my husband had the risotto which we both enjoyed. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and very good. Wish we had time to eat here again before we left.

“The Name says it All !!!!”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

If you are looking for different, this is the restaurant for you. The chef basically uses the Local produce to make his fantastics dishes. It is incredible what you can do with vegetables. The dishes are extraordinary and the restaurant is very warm. There wine list is very large and you will most likely find something that you have not had in a long time. Try having a drink after your dinner in there lounge area it is very relaxing .

“Excellent execution !”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

The Renoir is one of the excellent Restaurants of Montréal. On top of an excellent location (and very enjoyable "terrasse"), the chef Olivier Perret brings us back everyday his "catch of the day" from the local market ! (Menu "retour du marché"). Original and well executed.
Young and friendly (but not too friendly) staff makes it both enjoyable at diner and well executed for lunch.

“Samuel sauve- Lamothe Sous-Chef”
Reviewed July 27, 2012 via mobile

If you are looking for a top quality, delicious and creative meal, then you must try the incredible fare prepared by Chef Samuel at the Renoir, Sofitel Montreal's wonderful restaurant!

Okay, Foie Gras may be banned in California, but this must be the best available anywhere! We had a surprise foamed tomato gazpacho taster in between our white truffle risotto that had thinly shaved sweet radish?. The plating was unusual as the risotto actually came served on a plate! The pairing of an Argentinian Vida Organica sparkling Chardonnay was a pleasure, as was the doting staff. The piece de resistance was the generously cut, bone-in rib eye that had flavor enough on its own, yet was served with an incredibly mysterious dipping opportunity that was neither heavy nor sweet but just right...for every other bite... Solo was truly sublime, matched with a French cab franc, though the course was served with a fresh baby carrots, anise and a side tub of white truffle and mushroom creamy potatoes.

Our palates and tummies were so exhausted that the awesome chocolate mouse thingie was like putting a blanket on a hibernating bear. He may not need it, but he appreciates it!

At the end of the meal, I didn't have to beg twice for this master to come out so I could shake his hand. In our speaking with this gentle, petite giant of a chef,he delighted in our true appreciation, and even offered to make a version of something special for breakfast that Micki had had at a Washington DC restaurant: lemon ricotta souffle! We took him up on it; you guess how good it came out! ... We have reservations again for dinner tonight! :)
