Description: Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.

A business trip last year put me in the Nelligan Hotel (amazing) and turned me on to Modavie just a couple of blocks away. Wow. I ate as many meals as I could there on that trip and brought my wife back to Montreal this year. We had our anniversary dinner there and were served by an amazing guy named Radouan. The food, service and atmosphere are terrific. We came back the next day for lunch because, you know, you can only eat so much at one sitting. The onion soup was superb. As was Monosh our server. What a great place. Can hardly wait to get back to Montreal just for the treat of eating at Modavie.

We were expecting jazz and got some kinda weedy folk music, but it was well-played. The menu was middle of the road, but everything we had was also well-played. The lamb dish I had, in particular, was very good. This seems to cater to an out-of-town crowd, but we're the out-of-towners, so who are we to complain. :-)

Very nice light dinner here of mussels and wine in the upstairs dining room. They had two sets of live music, one for the downstairs dining room and one for the upstairs. Was convenient Old Montreal location close to our hotel. Mussels were very good and, with the bread, was a nice light, shareable meal.

Arrived on time for our reservation and had to wait for our table with many other guests. The staff was smothering constantly to receive our orders to ensure table availability 2 hours later. Our meals were dry, the chicken was like shoe leather, the spaghetti bolognese with meatballs was very dry and served with no extra sauce, subsequently requested from the Manager. A complete waste of money and time

we were told about this place before we left home so purposely made a reservation for 7 when the music starts... we were seated and enjoying our meal when it started a fellow on a cello and someone on the keyboard.we were expecting jazz it wasn't really but it was ok and not too loud while you were eating anyway... enjoyed the food and the portion size but wouldn't recommend the place for music
