Description: Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.

We tried their French onion soup, lamb pasta and trout with risotto. We enjoyed all of our dishes.
The waitress we had at the door was not friendly as she told us we could not sit by the window because it was reserved. We made our reservation more than two months ago through their website, but apparently that didn't count. Minus one star here.
We decided to go upstairs and were greeted by much more friendly and helpful waitresses. And we loved them! We could hear the music in the background and it was very nice.
Next time, we will make a reservation on the second floor and enjoy their food and music without any bad feelings.

Some might not agree and some might do...read and you decide yourself. I ate at the restaurant today. The host was a lovely girl and waitress was indeed nice. I ordered soup and salmon.
- I believe the trendy restaurants just give you a small portion (normal for me)
- Not even half the way I got a full size bone in my salmon which was supposed to be boneless as per waitress. When i pointed out to the waitress all she said "oh that happens sometimes...smile" and nothing else was done...no courtesy what so ever (not normal for me)
- When i asked for the invoice, the printer did not printed it so i had to go downstairs my self (i did not mind)
- when the bill was printed, i asked the waitress to ask Maitre'D to give a small discount. she asked but the stingy Maitre'D told her NO! and passed by me like i have done the biggest sin. i found his behavior and professionalism very lacking courtesy.
On a personal note i don't recommend this restaurant to any one from now on.

But then again Maitre'D might had a rough day. So i forgive him for that but not a good first experience.....and over priced.

The food was excellent and Mr Lorenzo was very welcoming/accomodating. My In-laws from Britain were in town for the week and we all had a nice evening.

Was not expecting too much, after all this restaurant is located in "touristy Old Montreal".... We ended up have one of the best meals/experiences of our 5 day holiday in Montreal...far better than other restaurants that were rated higher. We were seated by the window and had a great meal, wine and live music...great value. We will be back!

This is a little late, but visited Modavie in May. Sat outside to fully enjoy the street atmosphere of Montreal. Staff, including Lorenzo, provided exceptional service! Food was much better than the typical tourist menu found at other street-side restaurants in the area, and price was quite reasonable.
