Description: At Restaurant Le Bourlingueur, fish and seafood are among the highlights of this fine eatery, with poached salmon, the house specialty, occupying the place of honour. A visit to this charming establishment in Old Montreal will also "net" a gracious ambiance and a mouthwatering table d'hôte. For those who prefer non-seafood delicacies, other specialties are also available.

“Good food & atmosphere at reasonable prices”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

They offer 3 course meals at great prices, as well as a la carte. Staff are friendly and speedy and the decor is welcoming. Their wine list is also affordable. I had a delicious 2 course meal with a glass of wine for under $30 before taxes. Well done.

“It was ok”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

It was ok. Nothing to write home about or rave over.

The food choices are few and the portions are small for the price. With that said the waiter was pleasant, the food came quickly and it was hot. The setting was intimate but the bathrooms were awful.

The best part of my meal was the sugar pie that I had for dessert.

“Ordinary at best”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

Walking along the Rue St Paul, this looked like a good place to stop for dinner. The restaurant is welcoming but the wait for service and food were interminable. The dishes when they finally arrived were rather underwhelming, pretty tasteless and seemed rapidly thrown together. And it was not as if the restaurant were super busy where they needed customers to cut them some slack.

Overall, they really need to up their game if they are to compete with the other excellent places mere footsteps away.

“Not impressed”
Reviewed June 15, 2014 via mobile

We were traveling with a group and this was a pre arranged dinner. The food served was not what we had chosen from the menu earlier in the day. All in all everything tasted bland, and unseasoned. I feel that since we were a tour group that not as much effort was put into the preparation and service of our meal. Group rate or not, the same care and attention should be given to every customer. If your menu states sausage with potatoes, please serve it that way. If I wanted macaroni noodles, I would prepare them at home. The pork with mustard sauce looked and tasted more like tuna casserole, again with macaroni noodles. When I return to Montreal, I will not visit this restaurant again and cannot recommend it.

“Pleasant setting, good food”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

We ate here two times during our 5 days in Montreal. Our first meal was at lunch. We were somewhat overwhelmed by the clientele. In the back room, was a very large group of noisy youngsters. As we finished our appetizers, we were joined (in the front dining room) by a very noisy group of older French speaking tourists. We have decided not to return for lunch in the future.

The food was tasty both times. You can either order just an entree or for an additional charge, you can get the table d'hote menu which includes soup or salad plus dessert. We really enjoy their gazpacho and they finally had it the second time we ate there. Their baked apple they serve for dessert is tasty as well.
