This is just a tourist trap. Really spoiled the rest of our day.
The food was between mediocre and bad. The service was especially terrible - after finishing the 1st course, we had to wait more than half an hour for the main dish. Nobody bothered to explain why, nobody bothered to apologize during the waiting until the last 5 minutes (and I'm not even talking about any compensation, as we didn't ask for it, but a restaurant which respects itself would offer, like desert or something from the chef).
Another table next to us voiced their protest about the unreasonable waiting without any explanation.
We were 4 adults. We took the soup of the day, and it was mediocre (I think it was mushrooms, but I'm not sure). The bread wasn't fresh, the butter was in small plastic tubs (like you have in hotels).
I had a glazed leg of duck - OK, nothing special.
The stuffed chicken wasn't good.
Roasted pork with apples - not good.
The fish came fried and wasn't juicy.
It was expensive, yet the food was mediocre at best.
I think they exist only because of their great location in the old city and because the restaurant seems respectable from outside. Oh yes - and because of the tourists...

The atmosphere is bland, the service was bland, the food was very bland.

Try another restaurant in the area. This one needs more flavour.

Very nice little French restaurant in Old Town near the Centaur Theatre. We had a great pre-theatre dinner of duck confit.

“Good French food (probably)”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

We ate here as part of a large tour group and could only pick from one of a few pre-made items, so I am not sure the review is completely objective. That being said, we all have quite good meals that were unfortunately a bit dried out by the time they reached our table. One person in our group happened to visit the place on her own the day before and said her meal was excellent. The service was great and the wine list was also fine. Also the ambiance of the restaurant was very sweet). If I was on my own again in Montreal, I would definitely try this place - I think it has much to recommend it.
