Had an incredible lunch here with my parents today. The appetizers were all delicious, especially the sardines. The fried calamari also tasted very fresh. The main courses were amazing and we tried a Portuguese white wine (that the sommelier recommended) which turned out to be great! All of the flavors and textures for every dish were fantastic. I highly recommend the mushroom-encrusted black cod. We then had the desserts (vanilla tart & almond tart) that were paired with a delicious salty-sweet rice ice cream and a poached pear with red wine reduction sorbet. Very very good!
The interior of Ferreira is very pretty and the atmosphere is very lively, full of talkative, loud businessmen! I wouldn't say it's a great place to bring children.
The prices are a little expensive (40$ for my black cod main course).
The service was sometimes great and sometimes not so great. They were very patient waiting for the third person in our party to arrive and our waitress spoke great English and explained everything on the menu and all of the specials very clearly. The sommelier had a very abrupt and impatient attitude. The food arrived in a very timely manner.
The only problem I had was with our waitress at the end of our visit. I gave her a 20% tip (more than enough, especially in Montreal) and her demeanor completely changed when she saw the bill. She seemed pissed off and did not even say goodbye to us (no one did, which is minimum what you expect at this kind of restaurant). I'm sorry, was 20% not enough for you??? I don't understand what her problem was but her anger was not necessary.
