Every few years I return to my hometown and visit Magnani. It's way up in the north end in an unlikely location but it's been going strong since the 1950s. I think it's the oldest Italian resto in the city.
You won't be wowed by the beautiful platings or the original recipes - but the food is really great. It is old school and wonderful. Beautiful pasta made in house... try the ravioli trio. Thankfully you won't find veal parmigiana but the veal dishes are tender, mouth watering and made from the best ingredients.
Excellent wine list. Service is professional and not cloying. Excellent value and charming throwback to another day.
I keep returning.
