“Best couscous in town”
Reviewed June 21, 2014

Wide variety of couscous, nice and very reasonable menu, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere. Do not forget to bring your wine as it is a BYOB place.

“Worst time ever...”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

So hearing from friends that this place had decent couscous we decided to give it a try . We had a friend visiting from South America and decided to try it together. It is extremely difficult for me to say what went right that evening.
As soon as we entered in, we were given menus...great!!! We were waiting on our friend and the server( I think also the owner) asked us twice in the first 5 minutes if we had made up our mind.... Anyway moving on.... our friend came in and we placed our order. He stopped and corrected all of our pronunciations... and told us to practice while he got the food. Another young couple came in and I saw him try to open their bottle with his teeth... Its a BYOB...yuck!!!!! After we had our dinner ( it's now 8 o'clock) he asked if we wanted the bill... we said we wanted to wait and try dessert. We shared dessert and had to ask for water. Before we were done , he came by with the cheque...
All in all one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant in Montreal, a place that I love for the wonderful food and friendly people.
Oh and by the way ...the food was average , since I forgot to mention that!!!

“Amazing couscous, BYO wine, and lambtastic!”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Little restaurant in the Montreal plateau, amazing lamb (seriously have some lamb, it's a tender shank!), the couscous and the vegetables w broth are really good, but the brik is OK only. You bring your own wine, you eat some good Algerian food and you have some laughs with friends.

“worst food worst service waste of time”
Reviewed September 18, 2011

If u like salty food and rude service u will be at home in this filthy place. This is not Algerian food at it's best but it's worst. The proprietor is your waiter ..and incapable of serving people properly. Did I mention they-use canned green beans? A huge disappointment. It's salty, pricy, and a waste of time and money. There are no algerians eating here either...so that should be a big clue!

“Don't let tawdry decor stop you enjoying a great meal”
Reviewed September 1, 2011

This restaurant has been in business, presumably on the same site, for 30 years or more and the interior is more than showing its age. The fastidious will not be too pleased with the carpet, for instance! However, they really know how to make good plain cous-cous and the menu offers very good value for money as well. We had rabbit and lamb dishes and they were both succulent. Other traditional Berber dishes are also offered. Take your own wine for a hearty meal and an inexpensive night out.
