Former governor's mansion .. Beautiful in it's simplicity from the outside - love the grounds as well. Sits right close to City Call

The museum is a pleasant place, the audio displays are informative and one of the rooms, the wood panelled music room, was beautiful, but there was little attempt to capture the sense of a home. Most of the exhibits are in glass cases with many signs, which makes for a rather austere experience.

Some very good displays of like at the time of settlement. Some audio & video guides. Not a ton of things to see but well presented. Tours are not available every day but would make the experience more enjoyable - call or email for details. Good value!

This home is well laid out into a museum and the main floor is beautiful and had a lot of historical documents and other artifacts of the many residents and owners over the years. The lower level talked more about life in "the rest" of Montreal over the years, including different home styles, foods, clothing people adapted, etc. there are frequent guided tours and several audio sites along the route through the building.

Staff aren't overly friendly, but the museum itself is wonderful. Lots to see and read about. I recommend a tour if possible, otherwise - make sure you have enough time (1.5 hours+) to properly read everything :)
