“With a Chateaux & Relais certification you cannot go wrong with the food!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2012

I did not know this restaurant was rated Relais & Chateaux which makes such a big difference in the quality of the food and price! Service is efficient but a bit cold and agree with the attitude issue mentioned in some previous review. You pay the price of superb food that unfortunately may come with some snobby service.

“best meal we had in Montreal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

Busy and exciting. Good tasting menu with many "goodies" from the kitchen throughout the meal. Service was acceptable but a bit aloof - expect more in this price range. Pricey but eclectic and innovative. Enjoyed the flavors and presentation - very ingenious. Would definitely return - best meal we had in Montreal.

“Exceptional Food, Service and Decor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

This is the second time in the past twelve months I have had the opportunity to explore the cuisine of this exceptionally good restaurant. I say "explore" because the food is unique and very, very good. The restaurant was opened about 10 years ago by three young Frenchmen who had met in a cooking school in France. The business has expanded in that time from the original small 30-seat restaurant to a much larger facility on the same site and now includes another restaurant in the Birks jewellery store a short distance away. The menu is distinctive (and can be viewed online). In my experience, one starts with what may best be described as a plethora of, call them what you will - appetizers, amuse-gueule, amuse de chef, etc. - all of which were distinctive and tasty. To start the meal, I selected calamari (which was done in the form of tagliatelle), followed by poached lobster with steamed vegetables in a citrus broth - all unique in their presentation, and very, very good. A foaming sorbet was offered as an entremets. Our wine was a white Italian chosen by my host. Following the main course, and too "plein" to order desert, we were served and enjoyed a great selection of house favours - sweets to melt in your mouth. A special dinner but probably not one to appeal to a "steak and potatoes" person. Service was very gracious and professional from a young waiter with a perfect command of both English and French. The dining room has an attractive and lively atmosphere. A not-inexpensive dinner, it was none-the-less good value.
