“Great Food and Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2012

Food was great. Service excellent.
It was our first time at this restaurant and we will be back.
Their menu is simple north american food, hamburgers, smoked meat, steaks, club sandwich, salads, etc.

Yes the smoked meat is awesome.
They have a fantastic variety of hamburgers like kangaroo meat. And we were told they would have a hamburger with alligator meat this summer.

The decor is very simple. Price is right... $10-$15 per person plus drinks.

“Excellent dinner!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2012

We were there for dinner. We were quickly accomodated, even though we did not have a reservation.Their beef brisket was super good! Service was attentive. All the orders came quickly, without mistakes (we were a group of 9).

“Smoked Meat -- Wow!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2011

We saw the Brisket Montreal on the Internet before we went to Montreal and decide to try it. We took the Metro out to the Beaver Hill stop. and had to only walk a short distance. Either of us had had smoked meat before, but were looking forward to a new taste experience. Smoked meat is beef that is slowly smoked and then very very thinly sliced -- like pastrami or corned beef.

We both got the sandwiches (it was lunch time) with fries and coleslaw. It was about $11 CAD. The fries were good, coleslaw average. But the sandwich was huge. Unfortunately, they serve it on very thin rye bread -- it would have been nice on a Kaiser roll. But the meat was delicious. They have a variety of mustards you can put on your sandwich.

The waitstaff was efficient, but not friendly and didn't check back to see if we needed anything else. Very good place for lunch and central to downtown. BEAVER HILL METRO

“Not sure what the hype is all about”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2010

Briskets is an ok restaurant. There is alot of tourist flow there for a taste of Montreal's smoked meat (which is the restaurant's specialty), with tour buses making a stop there quite often. Although the smoked meat is decent, it's nowhere as good as the one from Shwartz (best in the city). When it gets really full, service takes ages. I waited over 40 minutes for a club sandwich there once, and around 30 for a smoked meat sandwich several times, even though it's the house specialty.

Most of the prices are over what you'd expect to pay for the kind of food they serve, but the taste is decent for the most part. I'm pretty sure the owner of the restaurant has a deal with touristic companies, because I wouldn't understand how a big place this place gets full so many times a week. I don't see Briskets as the institution it pretends to be, it's no more than average.
