“Our Montreal home away from home”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

We have been going to this B&B for several years now. It is connected to Le Chasseur and we have stayed in both sides. We have stayed in several of the rooms. We have always stayed in one of the rooms with its own washroom, but enjoy most the suites - which are actually fully equipped apartments, enabling us to cook some of our own meals. The last four summers we have rented one of the suites and brought along friends.
The beds are very comfortable. Rooms are clean, some are small, but there is so much to do, you shouldn't be spending much time in your room. The staff are quick to respond to any needs re extra supplies, towels etc. In the summer breakfast is served on an out door patio with a hot breakfast, made to order, omelettes, quiche, waffles - all very good, as well there are breads, yogurt, cereal and fruits. I eat a gluten free diet and have never had a problem, they have always accommodated me. When I was there in slow season the meals were in the kitchen, and only cold options. Roc and his staff are super friendly and helpful and make it a joy to stay there. Once when we left a bag, Roc was kind enough to take it to the bus station and put it on the bus to our home for us. The location is perfect, as you are with in walking distance of the gay village, St Denis Street known for its cafes and restaurants and the old city and port. It is also by one of the main subway stations for trips any where else in the city, and less than 5 mins. from the Bus terminal. If you fly in, there is a shuttle bus from the airport to the Bus terminal. If you are driving there is street parking I have always been able to find parking close, often across the street. Depending the days you might have to move your car for street cleaning, but not an issue. There is also an enclosed parking garage near. You are very close to a grocery store, two pharmacies, liquor store, bank machine, bike rental station and dozens of great cafes and restaurants and coffee shops. There is also a gym close by with a day rate.

Room Tip: The front rooms on first two floors can be a little noiser on the weekend as you can sometimes hear...

Le simone is actually one of several 'establishments' located in the same block of flats. The house is on a corner of a busy street and is quite noisy. Location is good very close to the Barry-UQAM metro on the outskirts of the Village. The room is OK but the wooden floor looks a bit grubby and could do with a good scrubbing. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom is ensuite but is actually part of the room and is not completely separated. The AC works well but is located inside the bathroom so the door must be kept open when the AC works. The window faces the street and there are only curtains but no blinds. The main switch to the lights is outside in the hall. Breakfast is served on a decked veranda. Yogurt, cereal and croissants are provided and a freshly prepared hot dish of choice is of good quality. Fruit could be provided more generously. Please note steep steps stairs to climb to the rooms. Staff are quite friendly and provide information on the main things to see in this very big city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the inner court yard but not on the bottom floor.

I have been staying at Le Simone for many years. The recent installation of a new air conditioning system and soundproof windows have turned a good value into an excellent value. The b&b has a great location on the edge of the village and the latin quarter. It's an easy walk to many attractions, steps to the main Montreal metro station (3 lines), the bus station (direct bus to the airport) and free on- street parking is possible ( consult with staff in advance). The b&b is two converted town houses. Each room is different in furnishings, size and quirks but all are clean and comfortable. The owner and his staff are very friendly and accommodating to a wide range of guests. A full breakfast served till 11AM. The rates in the low season are just plain cheap and in high season an excellent value. The buildings are old, quirky and occasionally something needs to be fixed so this is not the place for somebody looking for a standard hotel room but if you want a friendly, comfortable, well located and excellent value place to stay in Montreal Le Simone is for you.

Room Tip: All of the regular guests have their favorite room and they are not all the same room. You will just...

I spent a weekend with a friend in the 2-bed room (I think we were technically in Le Chasseur next door but they are effectively the same place). There wasn't a ton of floor space, but that's not actually what I look for in a B&B, especially in an old part of town. The room itself was well-decorated and very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was also very affordable, especially considering the difficulty we had trying to find a place with 2 separate beds. The proprietors were extremely friendly, and they made a delicious breakfast with choice of either an omelette or something sweet (pancakes / waffles while we were there). The B&B is located in the more French part of town which is great for the cultural experience, and especially great if you want people to actually speak French to you! Also very conveniently located to metro, airport bus, and the Latin Quarter. The only downside was that the walls were a little thin so we could hear other guests who came home late / got up early, but given the age of the building that's not too surprising. All in all, an excellent find.

I stayed in this B&B for one night and really liked the room. It was spacious and bright with wooden floors, a small table, easy chair and windows that opened onto a small courtyard below. There was a sink in the room which was a nice touch, as the tiny shared bathroom was upstairs. Breakfast was a variety of breads, fruit and cereal with none of the hot dishes that other travelers refer to and the serving and seating area are all in one tiny kitchen, so some travelers chose to take their breakfasts to their rooms. The B&B is centrally located to the downtown area and just a few blocks from the bus station. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating, but I don't know that I would stay here again unless there was an ensuite bathroom and more breakfast choices.

Room Tip: choose a room with a bathroom as the first floor rooms have to go all the way upstairs to the bathro...

my husband & i just got back from a 5-night stay at Le Simone. we were in town for a conference at le Palais de Congres, but the hotels in that area were way out of our budget. Le Simone offered a really reasonable rate, PLUS breakfast, which consisted of yogurt, cereal, fruits, breads, croissants, muffins, and a rotation of hot dishes, such as pancakes, omelettes, and quiche, prepared on the spot in the morning. fantastic. best of all, we got to experience much more of this beautiful city than any of our colleagues, since le Simone is located near the Latin Quarter and Le Village, near restaurants, a brewery, cafes, a whiskey bar, theaters, grocery stores, really a proper neighborhood. and the super convenient 747 bus is only 2 blocks away. the room was a little tight for my 6'4'' husband and me, but the shower was sufficiently tall (a big concern of his) and the bed was fantastically soft & fluffy. i couldn't really ask for more. the staff was wonderful, the experience was great, i would absolutely recommend this place to a first time or return visitor to Montreal.

I had a very nice stay at le simone b and b in montreal. It is very convenient to metro and a short walk to to old town. I accidentally forgot a nice leather jacket and blouse when I left and the hotel owner called me right away to let me know! I was too far away to return so he very kindly boxed and mailed them home to me in the states! so service was great - and breakfast good too. all and all a great deal....
