“Great hotel, friendly staff, perfect location.”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

The location of this hotel is definitely one of its best selling points. It is within walking distance of Old Montreal, maybe 3 blocks from the Notre Dame, and is right across the street from the Convention Center. As other people have mentioned, the concierge was very helpful (except for one time when I was given misinformation about the location of a nail salon - very minor issue though) and friendly. What stood out to me was the helpfulness of the front desk staff. Whenever I called or stopped by with questions, they were more than willing to assist. The only bummer was that one morning the sound of construction woke me rather early, but this is something out of the hotel's control. Finally, the room was clean and neat. A couple of pieces of furniture could stand to be replaced, but the kitchen and bathroom were really nice. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the opposite side of where the construction is going on.

Full sized kitchen, which I haven't seen at an embassy before. Bedroom is small, as was the closet. Really a bit tight for more than two. Comfortable. Breakfast good. Restaurant has limited offerings lunch and dinner but the food is very good. Just don't try to eat there during the free drink time when it is crowded and the noise unbelievable. Right across the street from the convention center and a block from Notre Dame and old town.

Hotel location is great - near Old Montreal & across the street from the conference center and the Place d'Armes metro station. The concierge is very helpful & can give you directions to the metro entrance. Swipe your room key in the elevator to gain access to the floors. Hotel rooms have a two-person jetted tub, but the stall shower is only 2 1/2 ft. square. Blow dryers are provided, but only have a low speed & low heat setting. The kitchenette includes a full American-size fridge/freezer, a microwave, and even a dishwasher! No dishes, flatware, or detergent are provided. The room would have been rated excellent if not for the shower size, blow dryer speed, and missing kitchen supplies.

Substantial gratis breakfasts are served cafeteria style in the restaurant near the main floor ("RC") elevator. Drop your voucher in the bowl at the maitre d' stand, or wait until you are asked for it at your table. Plates are to the left as you enter, or from the grill counter to the far right. The cooked-to-order omelets from the grill are wonderful! Juice is at the bar counter near the grill toward the windows. The restaurant seemed to have enough seating. If not, you may take your food to your room & eat at your kitchenette bar counter. The happy hour voucher covers a drink plus carrot and celery sticks, pretzels and chips & salsa.

There are only three computers (2 in the business center, and 1 at the counter just outside the business center). The computers randomly disconnect from the internet, so take a USB drive (or ask to borrow one from the front counter) & save your data often. The USB port is on the edge of the right side of the monitor. The left computer in the business center isn't connected to a printer. Another option is to rent a laptop from the kiosk just beyond the reception desk, and use a USB drive. The very helpful staff will explain how they work and assist in sending the data to the printer.

There are no room safes, but safe deposit boxes are available through the front desk.

Laundry facilities are on the 2nd floor ($1.25 CA ea. for washer & dryer). Bring supplies, or purchase them at the front desk.

I'm very glad we chose to stay here. Excellent value due to location, amenities, breakfast and happy hour.

Transport via public bus #747 from/to the airport, at $9 CA each way, is a good value. The stop is a few slightly hilly blocks from the hotel, near the corner of St Laurent Blvd and Boulevard Rene-Levesque. You can purchase a multi-day metro/bus pass from the curbside kiosk at the airport. There is also a multi-day museum pass which only costs $5 CA more if you choose to include metro/bus transport. It may not be available at the airport kiosk, so you may want to purchase a one-time transport pass from the airport kiosk & the museum/transport pass later. I wish I would have rented a "Biki" bike for area sightseeing (good weather). The bus/metro are better only if you have a specific destination in mind.

Room Tip: Our 9th floor street-side room was very quiet.

We stayed at this hotel 3 times in the last month. During our first stay, one our firm's practice leads moved from one room to another. They left an ipod in the room and went to reception to request they retrieve it from the room they had just left, moments ago. (hotel card has stopped working) Reception stated that the hotel can't allow them back in to the former room and they would retrieve it. At this point, I considered the hotel responsible for the item. They never got back to us and additionally, there were numerous calls in the month that followed which the hotel staff did not return. Each time we was forwarded to a vmail box in house keeping. During our most recent stay, we stayed at the hotel again and since we were in person, we requested to speak to someone. Again, they said they would get back to us and we waited until the next day to meet with the manager. This time the manager in charge stated that they could do nothing for us but offered a free night . This is very insulting because the matter of non-responsiveness was not addressed, a free night does not provide sufficient compensation for the lost item and the manager would not take responsibility for what happened (even when one of Hilton's employees standing with us, stated that they remembered the entire incident and also knows of the calls over the month). Perhaps the most disappointing failure is how the matter was dealt with during the month and how the manager dealt with the incident in Montreal.

Stayed here six nights recently for a conference. The conference was at another hotel about 1/2 mile away but I wanted to be closer to the Vieux Port area. I am so glad I chose this property. Staff were super friendly, check in a breeze, and my room was fantastic! I loved the kitchen, used the fridge and microwave, and came back each day to clean dishes. i had one little issue with finding some dirty glasses in the cabinet, but I didn't complain about it because everything else was fine...just a fluke and didn't seem worth getting anyone in trouble for. Maybe just double check before you use stuff in the cabinets. The evening free happy hour was nice; met some fun people. Don't plan on filling up on the happy hour snacks, though, because they are very light: pretzels, chips, some veggies/dip. But hey, it's free! I did eat two dinners in the restaurant; one night a burger and fries, the other night a salad, and both were good, predictable, and a decent value. I also had complimentary breakfast daily and very impressed with the variety of options, including the freshly made omelets. I loved being so close to both the old port area and also the metro, truly right across the street. It takes a little while to get used to the underground ways of getting to the metro, but once I did, I felt like a local using the short cuts. I felt safe as a woman alone, even took the subway after a dinner out at 10 p.m. and had no issues whatsoever. Get a metro card right away at the airport because it saves you a ton of money if you take the bus back/forth from the airport (recommended) and use the metro or buses just a few times. Two tips: bop down to Espace Europea for a little sandwich/soup lunch, or a bagged lunch to go to take to see Notre Dame (comes in a super cute reusable little lunch bag). And, there's an IGA supermarket at the Complex Desjardins just a couple blocks from the hotel...you can stock your fridge with some meal-makings, snacks, wine, etc. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again if I return to Montreal.

Room Tip: I did overlook the courtyard with its construction but experienced no noise issues at all...6th floo...

A/C was not working, overall room furniture run down and floor carpet dirty. Needs urgent renovation. For the price paid i was expecting a better room and the floor carpet was so dirty that i felt unconfortable. The sitting space for complimentary breakfast was so small and crowded tha we decided to go to a Starbucks next door and pay.

Great location for the old port and the conference center as well as the art center. The restaurant is not recommended for a comfortable dinner. There is no Pool. The free breakfast and happy hour is really great when doing business.
