My favourite place to stay in Montreal, the Embassy Suites hotel is located within walking distance of Old Montreal and close to a metro station so is a perfect spot for visiting the city.

Arriving tired after a transatlantic flight, we were warmly welcomed by the very pleasant front desk staff. My request for a room on a high floor at the back away from elevators and ice machines was acknowledged, but I was warned that there was some construction going on that might start early and offered the alternative of taking one facing the street on a lower floor. We decided to stick with the higher floor, as we had planned to be up early anyway. As it happened, apart from a couple of clangs around 8:30 a.m., we were not bothered by noise at all.

The suite was spotlessly clean and consisted of a spacious living room with fireplace and pull-out sofa, a dining area, a kitchenette with large fridge, full-size stove, microwave, and coffee maker, as well as a separate bedroom with comfy king-size bed and a huge bathroom with shower and jetted bathtub (most welcome after a tiring journey!)

Once we had deposited our luggage, we went down for the nightly manager’s reception for a couple of glasses of wine and snacks, which was just what the doctor ordered!

Breakfast was excellent with an assortment of cereals, fruit, yogurt, pastries, etc., as well as the wonderful cooked-to-order section, a variety of juices, and coffee.

As we were taking a late flight out, they kindly stored our luggage for us so that we could spend the day in the city.

Highly recommended. :)

Chose the hotel based on location to convention center. The rooms are all mini-suites and very nice. The staff is friendly and accommodating - even to we non-French speakers. The location is literally 20 steps from the convention center and a short 10-minute walk to shops and restaurants of Rue Saint-Paul. There are free drinks from 5:30-7:30 each evening. I know it all sounds great.

I had a few issues with hotel: they are doing construction next door and the noise goes from about 6:00-6:00; the "restaurant" is little more than a school cafeteria where you serve yourself a meager breakfast and there isn't even staff when they open to clear tables or inquire about which of the coffee urns has decaf versus regular. All in all, it's a nice place to sleep, but venture out for anything more!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your constructive feedback on your recent satay with us. We regret we were not able to provide you with the breakfast experience you expected. As you may have noticed, we are presently remodeling our restaurant which will be completely new for our guest to enjoy this summer. Our complimentary, cooked-to-order breakfast is comprised of a variety of hot and cold food items, but we are constantly looking for ways to improve the guest experience, and as a brand, are looking at additional items we could include. On your next visit to the area, I hope you consider staying with us again so we can demonstrate the excellent food service and hospitality we are known for.

Thank you,

Catherine O'Brien

I'm still trying to figure out what this hotel is all about. It's definitely not up to Embassy Suite standards. The room was OK with a little kitchen and a decent bed. The bathroom was dominated by a humungous sink, with no counter. The bathtub was old and grubby looking with peeling paint above it. There were dirty stains in the carpet near the kitchen and the closet doors didn't fully open up. The lobby and breakfast area is a large room divided by floor to ceiling windows with palm trees skirting the windows to try and give the eating area some privacy. The restaurant was under construction, so the staff were scrambling constantly, attempting to make the area somewhat respectable for the guests. We encountered rude staff at the Manager's special telling us we needed to sit down to be served a beverage when clearly there were other people lined up. Such confusion. The room is noisy with tables and chairs set up like a cafeteria, not the usual intimate atrium setting of other Embassy Suites. There was a lot of chaos during breakfast but staff were doing their best at trying to keep up. Be prepared for room temperature juices! The speed dials on the phone didn't work so when calling for a wake up call, I spoke with a girl at the front desk. Even with her repeating the wake up time back to me, we were called a half an hour late. Totally unacceptable. One small appreciated bonus: free wifi in the lobby. Truly the only thing going for this hotel is the convenient location to Old Montreal.

I picked this location for a convention I was attending and got a day to get out and walk around. Once you got some ideas of what was around... it was extremely easy to find restaurants, pubs, sites, etc.. If I had to go back, I would definitely consider this hotel again....

This hotel is perfect for seeing Notre-Dame Basilica, the cobblestone streets of old Montreal and the wonderful ambiance of dining on Rue St Paul. The concierge is very helpful. The beds are so.....comfy. Thanks to front desk manager Francois, who was exceptional in his taking care of a problem. One concern, it would be nice to have free wifi in the rooms.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Montreal when attending a conference for four days. The location of the hotel was perfect at the conference venue was right across the street. Although the main purpose of my trip was business, I was able to spend more time in a "leisure capacity" as I brought my two teenage daughters with me. They were thrilled with the very spacious and well apppointed room (fireplace, jacuzzi tub and shower, kithen, etc). We have stayed at other Embassy Suites and my daughters both felt that this was the nicest one that we have stayed at (very upscale). The neighborhood was very safe and in walking distance to Old Montreal (where there are wonderful restaurants and shops), Old Port and St. Catherine Street (for shopping).

The hotel is fine. Rooms are large, location convenient, staff helpful.

Its biggest (and truly the only flaw) is the "restaraunt".
I use the term loosely, as it is little more than a cafeteria. In addition to being completely barren of any kind of decor, it's absolutely tiny. There may be 30-40 tables - which means that in an 11-story hotel, if you want to eat there, there's no room.
3 breakfasts in a row the place was mobbed. Families with young children stood in the lobby waiting to be seated. Servers rushing guests off the tables to seat others. A humiliating experience.
And the same thing with the "happy hour". The manager's reception is nice, but if it consists of an overworked bartender and crowds of people in a cramped space, with no tables to spare...and no manager in sight, what good is it?
Perhaps the hotel was overbooked - but the dining room area is far far too small for the hotel of this size.
