We found our long-anticipated trip to Paris derailed due to volcanic ash - and so we visited Montreal as a VERY last minute change of plan. We managed to snag a cancelled room reservation at Le Relais Lyonnais, and it was the best thing that could have happened to us. M. Albert did everything in his power to make us feel welcome in Montreal. He gave us outstanding restaurant recommendations (Au Petit Extra & Schwartz's). Our room was only available for one night, but he booked us into the St. Paul in the Old Quarter at a preferred rate, personally chauffeured us there (giving us a tour on the way), and made sure we got an excellent room. The following night we were able to return to Le Relais for two more nights. We loved the location - close to the Berri UQAM station, in the midst of a lively neighborhood and delicious breakfast available just downstairs every morning. The rooms are carefully appointed with very comfortable beds, excellent linens, rain shower heads and espresso makers. But the best asset of all is Albert & company, who made our disappointment vanish in the fun of discovering Montreal from this wonderful starting point.

Great boutique hotel, clean, well appointed, nice furnishings, great bed and service that is second to none! What more can I say? The owner operator, Albert was a gracious host who knows how to make his guests feel welcome. All of his recommendations were bang on! Now I know why is the the Number 1 Rated hotel in Montreal....

What a great hotel - everything was just lovely and Albert a delight. The room was spacious and immaculate, the bathroom was wonderful. Since it was our first time in Montreal, Albert recommended and made reservations for us at several restaurants. It's in a great location. Since rue St Denis is a very happening street, it can be a bit noisy on Friday nights if you have a room that overlooks the street, but for us it was a non issue. Can't wait to return to Montreal and will definitely stay here.

This place is my ideal hotel experience. Simple, contemporary, understanded and welcoming.

I stayed on the street side my first time there and although the street traffic was busy, the room was quiet enough. Not perfect, but good enough. My second time there was at the back overlooking the atrium. Nice and Quiet - near perfection for a busy downtown locale.

Rooms are on the smaller side but minimally, yet thoughtfully finished. Thus, I felt right at home.

This place is ideal for the solo/business traveler or couples that appreciate getting out and about. These aren't rooms that you'd lounge around in for the day, but are classy and comfortable enough that when you return from a day out in Montreal, you feel welcome and relaxed upon your return.

If awards were handed out for best hotel shower water pressure, Relais Lyonnais would win hands-down.

Albert & Louis are salt-of-the earth owner-operators that are warm and friendly yet invisible at the right time. They're available when you need them but, for the most part you feel as though you have the place to yourself which is what I appreciate in a hotel stay. These guys know what they want in a boutique hotel and cater to those that appreciate a similar experience.

Le Relais Lyonnais complimented my Montreal experience in a way I won't soon forget.

All the great reviews about this hotel are dead on! This hotel is very quaint but modern and in a great location. It was very close to everything we wanted to do. The room was very nicely furnished and extremely clean. The hotel has a nice restaurant downstairs with great pastries and breakfast. But, what really made this hotel such a wonderful place to stay was the service, and in particular, Albert! Albert and his staff went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant and effortless one. He helped us find everything we wanted to see, helped us call home when we couldn't use our cell phones, and even gave us snacks when we checked out for our ride to the airport!! If you want to experience the best of Montreal, staying at Le Relais Lyonnais is a must!!

Staying at this hotel was a wonderful experience! The location is fantastic, easily able to walk to shopping, restaurants, pubs, attractions and just steps from the metro make it the perfect location for beginning your exploration of Montreal! The rooms where clean, beautifully decorated, and the staff where helpful, friendly and accommodating. The hotel is in an old brown stone building that has been completely renovated, rooms are very modern. The breakfast that is included is delicious and provides much more choice then the usual toast and juice offered my most hotels. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a charming and convenient location to explore Montreal from.

I stayed at this hotel with a friend and was very impressed by everything offered. I loved that it was a small hotel, with just 7 rooms, and our room was very clean and modern. With beautiful wood floors, huge windows, a very comfy bed, the shower with a rain shower head, and the in room magazines and espresso machine, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast at the attached restaurant was delicious, and, we found Albert to be very helpful and friendly. Next time I am in Montreal I will definitely stay here again!
