“Location and locals and lovely views”

We enjoyed Casabianca and were pleasantly surprised by just how down-to-earth it was. The architecture was beautiful, our room spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the bathroom spectacular (how often does one see a claw-footed tub these days?). We loved talking with staff, who had excellent recommendations and made us feel as though we lived in the neighborhood. Breakfast was tasty and inspired us to visit the organic bakery/cafe from which the food is purchased. The location and price cannot be beat, and we felt lucky to be staying there on our first visit to Montreal.

The caveats: we wished our window could open; we felt that the room was stuffy at night. Also, some very gregarious guests staying below woke early each morning and interrupted our beauty sleep. But we would certainly stay at Casabianca again and recommend it to friends.

On our first trip to Montreal we did not know what to expect. The website tempted us and we booked online with ease. I had a question and called receiving a prompt and polite answer from Michael the host. We were greeted upon arrival in a very warm and professional manner. Our tastes are simple and the rooms were very wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the spaciousness of the apartment was appreciated. The location near Mont Royale is perfect for those who love parks and dogs and the people that go with them! We used public transportation the entire 6 days and both bus and train stops were within easy walking distance. The continental breakfast was as advertised. Coffee was great and bottomless. Items could have been varied from day to day; however, the simplicity was welcome. We heartily recommend this hotel/bed/breakfast to all who would like to touch the 'old world' and be truly touched by the warmth of the people of Montreal.

I am a model agent for a Montreal agency and I place most of my fashion models from abroad at Casa Bianca. So far, I've had nothing but ravings about the place. Men and women love the elegant atmosphere and the personality of each rooms. The staff is impeccable and the location is perfect as it is central, two blocks away from the attractions on St-Laurent st., yet very peaceful facing the park. I have trouble believing the guest who called it noisy as the times I've visited felt almost like a spa experience. And at those rates, far better than any hotel rooms in town (and I've actually seen and tested them all...).

We loved the low-key atmosphere of Casa Bianca in Montreal, a charming, simple and historic bed & breakfast. We're anxious to go back and can't wait to visit with Michael, the host, over a sweet, relaxed breakfast time. The location was wonderful, overlooking the park on a very quiet street, just a block from a cab stand.

Got in late on April 2. Greeted by Michael - the kindest, most gregarious and helpful host ever. The house is pretty much a mansion, a chateau in the city, made of a white tile exterior. My wife thought it was as close to a princess setting as she has ever seen, and certainly had the chance to sleep in.
The room was huge, with a claw foot tub open to the views of Mount Royal. I don't think there is another hotel in the city with a view like this. The furnishings were simple, but we like it that way - wood floors and no carpetting. The beds 100% latex is a revelation - best sleep ever.
Woke up to some awesome local croissant - the chocolate wildberry thing was outrageous. Not much choice of food on site, but the restaurants nearby are so good it doesn't matter - Beauty's, Montreal's top diner, is just a block away. And being so close to St-Laurent Blvd means the choice is pretty much unlimited.
Took a walk on the mountain, and with Michael's generous detailed instructions wound our way downtown, shopping, etc. all the way back to the Casa.
And the weekend went on just like that. Great romance. Great space. The house is old & everything authentic - including the doors and creaky floors. If you can't take much ambient sound, this might bother you. We hardly noticed at all. And compared to wherever else we might have stayed - a conventional B&B... no way... a 'posh and uptight' W hotel... a Chain hotel... the Casa Bianca was WAY WAY better and a bargain.

We came expecting to stay in a charming B&B style hotel in a sophisticated part of the city. Unfortunately for us the hotel is in an "up and coming" -- it is central and close to a wide choice of bars and restaurants, but for us travelling with a baby it was not suitable. The rooms are very basic and do not offer telephones, televisions, or control over heating and ventilation. The security situation was a little concerning - our bathroom had unlocked doors leading directly to stairs to the street and we did not have a key to lock the external door. The room was noisy and all other hotel guests were audible as they passed the door to our room on the hardwood floors. The breakfast offered consisted largely of some danish pastries which had been there the day before, there was no sign of the establishment's claim to offer organic, healthy continental breakfasts. On this score the hotel website is very misleading.

The staff (of one) was very helpful and attentive. This hotel would be perfect for travellers who want a hotel/hostel hybrid in a vibrant location with plenty of nightlife options, but it was not ideal for us.
