“Good Value for the money”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

This is the second time I've stayed at Hotel Les Suites Labelle, and I still found it to be a great, basic hotel with good value for the money spent.
The rate includes buffet breakfast which is hearty - scrambled eggs, little sausages, baked beans, toast, croissants, cereal, coffee and juice. Nothing fancy just basic. If you want to pay more for breakfast or for lunch - try St. Denis or St. Laurent - up on Mile End or the Plateau for amazing restaurants.
Our room was a smaller suite near the elevator (not at all noisy) and it had a small fridge, hot plate, microwave, and sink. The bathroom was large and clean. We also paid for parking in the hotel garage - it's tight... really tight around the corners so if you have an suv or a large car I wouldn't advise parking there. Across the street is an above ground parking lot.
This hotel is a basic, solid hotel with pretty comfy beds. If you're looking for lots of services then it wouldn't suit you. The area it's located in, can be feel a bit 'down at the heel' but I've never, ever been bothered or troubled. Rue Labelle is a small street located just off of the east side of St. Catherine Street and has some boarded up buildings - but again, I have never experienced a problem on the street. I'm not sure I'd walk it alone late at night though.
Still St. Catherine Street can also be a bit scuzzy with homeless people begging but that's part of being in a big city and Montreal is a big city, with lots to see and do - the culture, food and historic areas are wonderful but it's not sanitized and clean - like lots of suburban areas. It definitely has a gritty side - reminds me of NYC in many ways.

An unassuming hotel on the outside but great on the inside.
The front desk staff were very efficient and check-in a breeze.
Our hotel room was clean and comfortable, bathroom spotless. Air conditioner worked very well and kept our room nice and cool. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic from the fresh scrambled eggs to the bakery fresh bread for toast and we couldn't get enough of the brewed coffee. Breakfast staff were very pleasant and kept everything stocked and neat.
My husband is still talking about the cleanliness of the garage.
We have stayed at other hotels in Montreal but this one is by far the best.

Inexpensive and a great location. Old Montreal is about a ten-minute walk. Fun restaurants and bars on Rue St Denis are a few blocks the other way. The metro is up the block and across the street. One block away is the Village main street, St Catherine, full of bars and restaurants as well.

Takes 20 minutes on the Metro to get to the Gare Centrale so perfect if you take the train to Montreal. Seven stops one way to the Biodome and 3 stops the other way to Mont Real Parc both of which are great family destinations.

The one queen-size bedroom was small but very clean with a tiny kitchen. Free breakfast was fine and plentiful but American. They do have croissants and bagels which are very different from NY bagels and fun to try.

My only complaint was that the wifi in the room was very slow at times but there are two computers in the lobby that guests can use for 15 minutes at a time.

Front desk clerk gave us a free map and marked where we should go to see the sights. Also gave us a metro map. Metro is clean, fast and easy to use.

The sleazy location with empty buildings, homeless people looking for handouts and detritus blowing about was rather a shock, but once inside the hotel the staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. (We had a plumbing problem which was dealt with efficiently and quickly) The room was spacious and had more than ample storage, chest of drawers, wardrobe etc, which was very welcome and quite unusual! Good amenities for cooking etc The only gripe was the lack of bedside light and bedside table; on one side of the bed there was nothing at all, so no reading in bed for us. And the wifi didn't work in the room, so no games playing either!
But..the breakfast was awful. No fresh fruit, only tinned, no yoghurt, the bread was store bought sliced, and the scrambled eggs dry and inedible. (The teens wolfed down the sausages and baked beans however!)We went round the corner to rue St Denis and found a great little cafe there with fresh crusty croissants and good coffee. The Latin Quarter was full of places to eat, the better ones being at the far end of rue St Denis, including Mamie Clafoutie's, where you can buy pastries and croissants to die for.
I suspect the whole area is due for renovation, hence the boarded up shops and broken windows. Basically it is reasonably placed for a comfortable walk down to the main tourist area, very close to the metro and very convenient for the airline bus 747. We are both 78 and if we managed the walk to the bus station with cases in tow, most others should be OK!
The hotel is in the gay area of Montreal and we arrived in the middle of the Mardi Gras Parade, which was full of fabulous people dressed in very little apart from feathers. The weather was marvellous and everyone was relaxed and having a good time. Great intro to Montreal!

Conveniently located, 30 seconds from BerriUQAM metro station, with a kitchenette and nice people. Excellent breakfast. Some may say there are some homeless own the street outside. Besides not bugging me at all, you're out of there in a matter of seconds. In 10 you're on St. Catherine... so...

Spent four nights in mid August at Les Suites Labelle. The hotel is about a block from the Berre-UQAM metro station, and a modest walk from old Montreal. Rue Labelle near St Catherine was a bit shabby with newspaper blowing around, but at the hotel it was ok. We crossed to Rue Berre right at the hotel thru a parking lot when going out as a "cleaner" exit . There is an indoor ATM on Berre right at that crossing.

There is paid indoor parking beneath the hotel, although you need to use exterior stairs to get to it. The drive to the parking involves low ceiling and sharp turns. We did fine and mostly left the car in the parking and walked or used metro.

There is a free, all you can eat breakfast in a room off the first floor that includes scrambled eggs, sausage, "home fries", cereal, bread, muffins, OJ and apple juice, coffee etc. Not gourmet, but not bad either.

Our room was on 6th floor at end of hall. It was clean, of good size, had ample storage space, There is a utility kitchen with small refridge, stove and plates pans etc. It had wine glasses and a wine opener! The room was quiet, except the airconditioner which, as in many hotels was noisy. Maid service comes every day. Our only "comment" is there should have been 4 pillows, there were 2 on bed and 1 in closet. Had a "large screen" TV which was nice. I believe everything is as advertised for the rooms.

Staff spoke english well, and was very helpful.

This is not the fanciest hotel in Montreal, but for the price it was everything we expected and a bit more.

Room Tip: One of the two elevators seems to park on 6th floor, other on ground floor. Our room was 6th floor a...

Very helpful and accommodating staff. They could answer any question and provide god suggestions even though they were all native French speaking. Location convenient to almost everywhere right at the edge of the Latin Quarter. We walked almost everywhere but ther is an underground station a block away. Good breakfast included and room was a good size with a kitchenette.
