Pros- Great location
Friendly staff
Clean
Quiet
Cons-Smell(fried onions) from adjoining restaurant was everywhere
No view, dark room could hardly tell if it was night or day
Weird "rain forest' like shower was awkward.
Not cheap($160.00 CAN per night)

I really wanted to like this hotel ,but the cons outweighed the pros for me YMMV

Room Tip: If you do decide on this hotel..ask for a room on the top floor with a street view.Maybe the smell w...

We stayed here for 4 nights for a mini-getaway. This hotel exceeded my expectations. It is very small- I think only 9 rooms, with a restaurant downstairs. The staff were friendly and the room was awesome. It had a mini kitchen which was handy, and the bed was very comfy. The location is also very good, 3 minutes to the subway and a short walk from huge strip of restaurants.

Part of the appeal of this hotel is it's cleanliness; barely used hotel products were replaced daily (even candles). Staff offered us an umbrella on our way out and seemed quite friendly. The kitchenette was useful especially for snacks, the hotel also provided kitchen tools (cutting boards, pots and knife). The air conditioner worked REALLY well.

The hotel doesn't offer a view of the city, and the balcony is shared with others, so when the curtains are open people are free to peer in.

We weren't interested in trying the restaurant (blue nil). The room is stocked with a few small shots of espresso but no coffee or tea.

The area is nice for small restaurants and shops and is conveniently located near the metro. The nightlife is not huge here, things seemed to close around 10.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so if you don't like taking the stairs a room on the first or second floor...

This is one of the best-valued hotels which we've stayed in a while. Service is great, and the room is beyond words. We stayed in a Queen Deluxe room, and it came with a large bed, dining/kitchen area plus a pretty spectacular bathroom. It's a pity that we only stayed here for one night. But if we ever come back to Montreal, this is definitely the hotel which we will come back to!

We moved here after staying at an unimpressive vacation rental in the Plateau area of Montreal, and what a treat to arrive in our room! Lovely decor, nice lighting, comfortable bedding and bed, an attractive little kitchenette. There are even candles by the deep tub if you want a nice soak after a day of wandering Montreal. Convenient location, too. And the staff are friendly and helpful. The price is very reasonable for the high quality of the Hotel Kutuma. My only comment is that if you need an elevator this is not for you, as there are only stairs (although they'll help you carry your bags up if needed). And it took us a while to figure out the espresso maker and the many light switches in the room...but those are very minor things. Overall I'd love to stay here again.

From the outside, The Kutuma Hotel doesn't look impressive, but once you step through the door you are wowed by the exceptionally friendly staff, who sorted out our car parking and our luggage, and then by the room. Well, it was a suite, with a large bed, dining/kitchen area and a fantastic bathroom, adorned with tealights around the bath! There was even a small balcony with table and chairs. Everything worked fine (safe, hairdryer, coffee machine, cooker and kettle) and we found a good place across the street, on the opposite corner for breakfast the following morning. We did the city bus tour in the evening as we were only in Montreal for the one night and we've found that this is the best way to see any city if you're limited on time. It was quite a walk away in the heat but definately worth it. The bus goes right past the hotel, so we got off the stop before and then walked the rest of the way back. The Ethiopian restaurant attached to the hotel was buzzing by this time and the smells were very enticing. We couldn't have asked for a better room or service, so, thank you very much; highly recommended.

Room Tip: Our room was really quiet at the side/back of the hotel.

That is the most beautiful hotel we've visited. Ever!

It's really small and cozy. The atmosphere, the genuine staff friendliness and helpfulness, rooms interiors, and the fantastic Ethiopian restaurant create a great romantic setting. Certainly not the place for families with kids.

There is no point in describing all the tiny details that had been taken care of with so much love and passion - you must visit and see yourselves. And - yes - enjoy quietly, don't tell anyone!

Verdict: Absolutely Must Stay!

Room Tip: All rooms are good. No elevator, though, so make sure that you choose wisely :)
