“Just what I needed!”

The B&B was lovely, very clean, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. I wanted a place away from the hustle of a business conference, but easy to get to and from: this was it! it is close to a metro stop and walking distance from St. Catherine for food and fun. If you like to walk, getting downtown or to the river is simple. I can't wait to go back...Je me souviens!

We stayed this past weekend at Le Cartier. Richard is an amazing host, with extensive knowledge of the downtown Montreal area restaurants and shopping. His B&B is immaculately kept and offers large rooms with comfortable beds, and clean washroom facilities. Breakfast is available, in a serve yourself manner. This suited us perfectly, as we were free to eat when it suited us, and had the kitchen area to ourselves each day. The B&B is situated in the Papineau/St. Catherines area, close to shopping and night life. We would night life. We would highly recommend it.

I stayed at Le Cartier during a particularly stressful week in the middle of November. I couldn't have chosen better. It was quiet, warm, and 2 steps from Papineau metro stop. The room was huge, clean, with its own bathroom. I never heard any noise from the street or from other guests. It was an ideal place to stay. The only caveat: don't bring a car. You don't need it in Montreal and parking is a migraine.

Richard runs an excellent well-priced self catering B&B ... every detail is attended to ... the rooms are clean, spacious and attractively furnished ... Richard has a good eye for art. ... the beds are large and comfortable ... Richard himself is fastidious and precise ... he conscientiously assists as required to select excellent restaurants that fit taste and budget ... he has business card folders of restaurants at which he personally has dined and assessed to be of exceptional value and/or quality.

The location is close to the Metro, so touring the city was easy. We left our car parked for three days (Richard even helped us get a parking spot and avoid parking tickets. In Montreal, it is important to know the rules. Richard knows the rules and is always happy to help.)

A class B&B and a class act in its Proprietor, Richard.

Good location near buses and Metro. Big, comfortable room. Nice owner.

However, "breakfast" consisted of grocery store bagels, boxes of cereal, etc. Nothing special. I would assume (and have seen at other B&Bs) at least a little fresh local fruit, but the apples left in the fridge has stickers from Washington State. I didn't get that close to the orange because it was really wrinkled. Went out for breakfast each morning to the boulangerie / fresh market and carried on.
