A very moving and thought provoking experience. The incorporation of a large selection of locally donated artifacts as well as accompanying text and personal interviews from survivors allows the museum to appeal to everyone. Tours with guides are available in both French and English, but not strictly necessary. If you love history and museums this is a great place to visit, but give yourself plenty of time, there is a lot of great material to take in.

I've visited Holocaust museums in Jerusalem, Washington, and Paris. They are all excellent. What makes Montréal's museum special is that it is so small and intimate. The exhibits are beautifully designed and organized, mixing video, photos and displays of memorabilia in both English and French. Also special is that all the articles on exhibit were given by Holocaust Survivors living in Montréal. You feel the terrible sweep of history and at the same time the very personal stories of people who survived the horrors. The best way to visit is with a guide, often a person with personal experience of the Holocaust or child of a Survivor. Though small, the museum deserves a minimum 1.5 hours but you could easily spend three. I guarantee you will emerge with greater knowledge and understanding, inspired, and committed to take personal action against genocide and racism, wherever they may occur.

I found this museum to be very absorbing and informative. There is the backdrop of Jewish communities and the Holocaust, and this is enhanced with personal stories that really bring alive the general experiences and themes. This is well worth anyone's time. My visit was a very rich experience and I learned a lot. I am not sure why you would need a guided tour as things are well explained. This is a good place to go on a Monday if some of the other attractions are closed.

Great memorial with real pictures and videos about the holocaust. Some survivors live in Montreal and their belongings are in the museum. Although a sad moment in history, the memorail provides a nice oportunity to learn more, understand and respect even more those who died and the ones who survived.
