We went in a rainy Wednesday night, very few tables being taken. A bit sad for the biz on St-Laurent Blvd. The restaurant was only opened for a month at the time when we visited.

The potion was a bit small, but the taste was great! First time for Burmese food and we loved it. I liked the tomato base. The burmese dessert cake contains tiny portion of poppy seeds will soon make you happy and high... (Hope I won't get into trouble by leaving this truthful comments? I think poppy seeds are not restricted in food here in Canada). Not sweet, perfect for people do not have super sweet teeth and ones who are concerned with calories.

Vegetarians can find few dishes here, that's why we would really wish if they could add more vegetarian selections to cater the trend of "non-meat healthy diners".

Owner and waiter were very friendly. We roamed around, took pics, they didn't mind at all. And we even chitchat a bit with them so we knew a bit background of the restaurant.

When they have more vegetarian dishes, we will certainly pay another visit!

I have never been to Burma though have travelled extensively through neighbouring countries in South-East Asia. I was intrigued and had heard some good things about this new place on a recent visit to Montreal. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent. And the service was very much like what I had experienced in Laos and Cambodia. Genuine, low key and respectful - and very interested in making sure the whole experience was perfect. I would recommend this place if you want to see Indian food meet SE Asian delicacies.

A visit to Montreal is an invitation to dine on excellent French cuisine, but having spent too much money on the first evening, we searched for a low-cost, but interesting alternative on the second. Ruby Burma was an excellent choice. My friend and I shared two generous salads. One had three kinds of noodles and a slew of other ingredients and seasonings, and the other was green and crunchy with a spicy vinaigrette. Together they made a delicious meal for a cost of $15 per person, including service. That's less than one-fifth of the French dinner! It took awhile for the food to appear, but everything is made-to-order (less spicy, no peanuts, that sort of thing) and the wait is worth it.
