“One of my best meals, ever, in Montreal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

Bistro Piquillo is a new restaurant located in Montreal, Quebec. It's run by a married couple with an abundance of experience in the food industry. Chef Jose Rodriquez runs the kitchen while his wife, Annabelle Gonclaves, whips up delicious desserts. If you're looking for authentic Spanish and Portuguese food...this is it!! The most delicious tapas from both regions are a delight to the palate. The desserts are over the top fabulous!!
DONT TELL ANYONE ABOUT THIS PLACE because you'll never get a seat if you do.
Ha!!

“Tasty Neighbourhood bistro”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

Bistro Piquillo offers a new flavor to the area by boasting a cuisine of Iberian and Mediterranean dishes as well as offering a brunch menu on the weekend.

After four visits, two breakfasts and two dinners, we will certainly continue to return. The price is a bit above mid-range, but certainly a tasty fare for what you get and definitely worth it.

On one of our previous visits for breakfast, our table had tried poached eggs on smoked maple salmon, poached eggs on polish ham, blueberry pancakes, fried egg on steak and the Piquillo burger. Everything was very good, and the only thing that was remarked on was it would have been nice had there been a bit more hollandaise sauce-something I’m certain that would have been provided had we asked.

As for dinner, the menu may vary depending on what ingredients are available. On this last visit, we sampled the tapas menu, munching on olives, fried chorizos and an appetizer of salmon tartare before moving onto our main meal.

My friends and I tried each others dishes which consisted of the Piquillo burger, a steak dish and a roasted pork belly accompanied by mashed potatoes with a fig sauce, all were delicious but the pork belly was the overall winner of the night. So much so that we are all planning on ordering it the next time we go back.

Also try to leave room for dessert! We've sampled the following and they are all marvelous, starting with the Natas, a Portuguese egg tart pastry in a light crust...a definite must and my personal favorite! There's also the famous Seventh Heaven, the lemon tart and the Catalana custard, all delicious.

Service was incredibly friendly and attentive. As the bistro is small, there is an intimacy in the ambiance and the chefs also take the time to come and speak with customers during the meals.

I'm very happy to welcome this new restaurant into the Verdun neighborhood and hope that other people will enjoy it as much as I have.
