“Great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

The service was very friendly and we enjoyed the food. We ordered couscous and chicken tajine for dinner. The mint tea was wonderful too. There aren't any morrocan restaurants close to home, so it was nice to eat a different cuisine. I would recommend this restaurant.

“Delightful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

While vacationing in northern Vermont, my husband and I drove up to Montreal for the day. Around 2:00 PM we realized we had not had lunch, were quite hungry and in need of a brief respite. Safran et Cannelle looked inviting and the menu interesting. We were seated upstairs in a cozy quiet dining room. Each meal was served with either soup or salad. Following the suggestion of our waitress we both ordered the soup and were pleased we did, it was delicious. We shared the two meals, both excellent. One was a dish with cous cous, the best ever; I could not have imagined that a simple little pasta could be so tasty. The sauce and chicken served with it were nicely seasoned. The other dish was an assortment of three items, one of their specials. It was also very good. Tea was served after the meal with a small plate of cookies. I would have preferred having the tea available with my meal because the delicate flavor would have been a nice compliment. Later in the evening we stopped in to buy some cookies. They were all so incredibly good with variations of almond, dates, rose water, and coconut. Plates of cookies can be ordered for pick up. If I lived closer, they would be on the top of my list for sweet treats to bring to special occasions.
Good value based on other restaurants in the area. Our server was pleasant and attentive to details although the speed of the service was a bit relaxed, not rushed in any way. This can be a plus if you wish to relax but might be frustrating if you have a tight schedule to follow.

“So so disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013 via mobile

After seeing so many positive reviews about this restaurant, just had to try it. Sadly though even though the waiting staff were friendly enough and it seemed we had gate crashed a member of staffs birthday party there seemed to be key elements of the menu missing. Starters were missing and for a none heavy meat eater it didnt look promising followed closely by the Chicken Pastilla, we were offered Chicken Tagine which then it seemed was also off the menu. Maybe it was just an off night but would booking your meals in advance. We left before ordering which was very disappointing.

“The best Pastilla au poulet in Montreal”

Great food and welcoming atmosphere. We ate at a few Moroccan restaurants in Montreal and this place was the best.

“Great seafood bastilla”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

Hi, we were 4 friends to have lunch at this old montreal restaurant. It'a a nice family run restaurant. It's not huge, but has place for maybe 40 people. The setting is not fancy, but the decor is adequate with a nice backgound music. The service and food were excellent with reasonable prices (less than $20.for entrée - main plate - tea and desert). We had the seafood bastilla (1) and tagine with lentils and beef (3). Nice casual eatery near notre-Dame and Mcgill streets.
