We visited this restaurant but by a referral but simply by a living social deal. We often eat sushi but most of the time it is on the go (like a sushi shop or take out) and have eaten at almost all of the west island sushi restaurants. Zenbu was excellent! The ambience was nice, very clean, modern, we had a table by the window but there is also a bar like option in front of the chef as well as a party room that we inquired about that should hold approx. 10 guests comfortably with sliding paper doors.
Now the food... we are used to the staples like the Kamikaze or the Dynamite as well as the California rolls... they had these on their menu but there were other items in which we delighted in. We started with the Tuna Royal a sliced tempura edged tuna presented in a house sauce in the shape of a flower with the center being a green leaf with ginger, it was delicious and the tuna melted in your mouth! Next we had Blue Note (Soya paper, tempura tuna, sea smelt roe, honey, cucumber, Japanese mint leaf, mango sauce), the cut roll was well presented on the side of the dish with a delicious cream sauce adjacent, it too was delicious! There were many other items in which we ate that night, each one was exceptional as well as the platting of the items carefully thought out. We did actually make it to the desert… it too was not a disappointment so make sure that you save some room for it! We finished our meal with the fried cream tea ice cream as well as another plate which was a crepe rolled/stuffed with fruits and cut into Maki like rolls served with a side of vanilla ice cream drizzled with honey… It was delicious! Well worth the visit and the prices are the same as any other place in which we have visited!
I complimented the chef on the way out and we will be definitely bringing a group of friends back here to enjoy the experience!
