We scored a reservation day before we arrived in Montreal. We arrived to an early seating (6:30)and glad we did as the place was packed when we left ( around 9). Chef/ owner at the bar when we arrived, very casual and warm welcome. We opted for the tasting menu as we just couldn't decide! Our server was very knowledgeable and had a warm easy manner ( wish I could recall her name because she deserves some accolades...our receipt says "server C"?) she patiently went through every item on the board in great detail, then suggested maybe the tasting menu- excellent advice!
Tuna crudo ( Dijon mayo and Meyer lemon curd and fennel...sublime!) , in house charcuterie-Tonnato...with tuna mayo and arugula , did not disappoint. Rabbit terrine with foie gras mini potatoes cooked in duck fat...meltingly delicious. Winter vegetables in bagna cauda.....could have bathed in that sauce. Baked oyster wasn't my favorite, but seemed like everyone else loved them as we watched them deliver quite a few throughout the evening. Poached greenling fish ( fresh caught by chef in BC we were told), served over pasta in a tarragon bacon buerre blanc ( I may be incorrect on the sauce but that is what it tasted like) was good...not spectacular, but good. Roasted pork collar on a squash or carrot? Purée with carrot coins....SOOOOOO tasty! Finished the parade with soft serve ice cream ( flavor unknown...sea something?) and a butterscotch pot de creme ( good flavor , texture a bit grainy ). Excellent wine list ...Canadian . Great beer selection. Cannot wait to go back, as I must try the rarebit toast and the cow at vin pie!!!!!!
