Small dishes designed to be shared. Salads, pizzas...They have two services in the evening so be there in time or be prepared to be asked to be done by 21.00! Or show up after that! The food is nice, the music so loud it's challenging. Not my favorite due to the ambiance but still worth beeing recommended!

After trying a couple of the overpriced and underwhelming dining spots in the touristy part of rue St. Paul, we headed in the other direction and found Dolcetto just a couple of blocks to the west. A fun yet comfortable room, ith much of the food prep taking place in the open kitchen area surrounded on two sides by a dining counter if you want to watch the process in action. A couple of great tables in the open front windows if you prefer to watch the pedestrians and carriages go by. But the food was really good. Lots of attention to blending and balancing flavors. Pricing for these small plates is typical for the area - nothing is inexpensive in Montreal - but we left quite satisfied by the very friendly service and great food!

Tapas Italian food is a misnomer as good portions are mostly the norm in Italy. The tapas concept in downtown Montreal seems mainly invented to show to tourists inexpensive menus. The service was ok but food from the kitchen slow. Great beef carpaccio, average octopus salad, so so gnocchi, forget the lobster pizza totally tasteless or the prosciutto crudo pizza go for the sublime duck calzone or the pesto pizza

I absolutely loved this place. We dropped by on a Friday evening and they were full but invited us to come back in 30 minutes. When we did we were greeted warmly and promptly seated. The blonde woman who served as both a hostess and a server was so friendly and helpful, suggesting great dishes and even bringing over another staff member to give us advice on local jazz clubs.
The food was terrific, as well as the cocktails. The atmosphere is lively and festive. This seems like a place that would be overwhelmed with tourists just based on location, but really seemed like it attracted a fair amount of locals.

We were on our feet pacing the city when we stumbled across Dolcetto. It was the most amazing find during the three days we were in Montreal and the tastiest food. The dishes are all smaller sized and one needs to order 4 or 5 of them to make a complete meal, but what a meal! And one gets to watch the chefs cook right in front of you. Our waitress was delightful, the food outstanding and the ambience that of an Italian exciting place to be. We will be back.
