On our printout for our hotel, we booked on June 24 th,2013 we were told there would be a coffee/tea maker,Tub/Showder combination. There were No clothers hangers, the drapes don't close, very dusty,No fan in bathroom, Room very small, Broken slippy bathroom floor, Hooks off drapes, bathroom door was broken, Ugly Navy blue painted ceiling. No vaccuming of the floor all week.

We were there to celerate our wedding anniversary. we were very dispointed with our room.
We went down and talked to the lady at the desk and she told us that she had taken down all these details off the website, but as of today the only thing taken off was the coffee maker.

Room Tip: Front of the building 2 floor

This place is a gem, not to be missed!! If you want the glitz and glamour of a 5-star hotel, you are in the wrong place! However, if you want to feel the ambience and friendliness of a small European family run hotel this is your destination! It reminded us of several of our hotel stays throughout Europe.

Some comments have stated rooms are small, but what should be expected from a traditional inn? This is a heritage building. The rooms are clean, comfortable and warmly welcoming.

Anna, Hamid, their family and all the staff are most wonderful and accommodating and they are more than happy to assist with any help you may need.

Delicious, homemade meals are prepared in full view in the dining room. Breakfasts are wonderful and are the perfect opportunity to meet other guests who have decided to stay at this charming Old Montreal hotel.

This was our first visit to Champ de Mar and we met new friends who are repeat guests. We will definitely come back to stay again!

Booked through Expedia. Pics on hotel webside are far from accurate. "Double" bed was not. No room to move in the room. TV had no remote and was up on a shelf too high for myself or my travelling companion to reach. Fire escape was not close and window did not open. Door lock consisted of a chain. Immediately turned around and checked out. Asked for refund and was told no problem, but when Expedia asked for one, they were told no. It is a hostel, not a hotel, in our opinion, and we would advise others to look elsewhere for accomodation. Wasted $500. Will never, ever even consider them again. Extremely disappointing.

Bought a deal for 2 nights on Groupon and knew we weren't getting a luxury hotel. The room was small (1 double bed, 1 single bed) and no flat screen tv but the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was adequate, clean and had great water pressure. The family run hotel staff was great and very friendly. We were within walking distance to Old Montreal, Old Port and everything we wanted to see. If your looking for a place to crash at night and plan on being out all day this is a perfect place. Definitely eat in the restaurant, breakfast and dinner were good.

I'm not a person to demand luxury quality in a hotel but cleanliness is a big factor. This is ONLY a place to stay for young students/professionals who are on a budget & just need a place to sleep at night. It is a close walk to Old Montreal - that's the only redeeming factor about this place. The lobby and staircase smell. The room at first glance is acceptable, but DON'T open up the blankets if you want to see old stains and random hairs. I would suggest bringing your own blanket(s) and pillow to lay on top of the bed. There are stains on the carpet. ONLY stay here for a night, or two nights max. Any longer and you might go crazy. We only stayed for one night. When we left, there was vomit on the stairs. We didn't even eat the breakfast because we didn't want anymore surprises. Only book if you can get for dirt cheap online. Good Luck.

Should get zero. Quite possibly one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. The pictures online are nothing like the real thing. Tiny rooms, that smell bad. Stained carpets. Nothing charming or quaint. The place is a dump. We picked it for the price and the location. Sadly we didn't realize there were much better hotels for the same money and Montreal is easy to get around so location is relatively unimportant. But the staff takes the cake. With a couple of exceptions there were rude and incredibly unhelpful.

Room Tip: Any room at a different hotel.

Hotel Champ-De-Mars is easy to get to and is in a great location in Old Montreal. Overall it is a very charming hotel that definitely gives the feel of days gone by. Our room was very small, which is fine when you're only two people staying for two nights. It is definitely dated, but clean. Beware if you are a light sleeper, because you can hear absolutely everything from the rooms next door! There is no denying this place needs upgrades, but it does have charm. And if you're only there to sleep and not hang out in your hotel room then it certainly does the trick.
