Owner description: The market, along the Lachine Canal, offers cheese, local produce, baked goods and meat from different vendors. Buy food there and head to the canal for a picnic.

Lots of food choices, both Quebec specialties and international options. Fun destination to walk around...bicycle along the canal and leave your Bixi at the nearby station. Tons of fresh fruit. Many vegetarian choices which was perfect for us.

Boulangerie? Check. Fromagerie? Check. Chocolatier? CHECK! Fruits and vegetables? (Loads of options) Only thing missing here is a wine shop, but you can head across the street for that if you wish. Load up here for a picnic, maybe head over to the benches near Lachine Canal. Easy access from the Metro green and orange lines, stop at Lionel-Groulx station. Right turn out the station, and you're just a short four-block walk to the market.

Loads of fresh fruit and flowers through the whole summer when the market on the outside is open. The inside, which is open throughout the whole year, you'll find a variety of stalls selling meats, breads, cheeses and much more of the sort.

We reached Atwater Market after riding the community bicycle (BIXI) along the Lachine Canal. The market is well organized with indoor and outdoor shops. You can find all the xxxberries available and any other farm product Quebec and Ontario have to offer. Alongside with boutique beer breweries, you will find various lunch offers varying from grilled chicken to sandwiches and snacks. Tidy surroundings and great proximity to the canal and the metro makes it a milestone in your Montreal endeavor

The markets outside offers a variety of fresh produce. The flowers and plants for sale are beautiful to see. The markets inside offers hundreds of cheese, cold-cut meat and other ready to eat food. A block away is a beautiful church good for photo op. On the other side of the market is the historic site of the canal. You can rent a bike to cycle along the canal. Kayaking and boating are also available there. $10/hr for bike rental or $30 a day. You can get some great sandwiches and desserts in the market for lunch and then walk or spend an hour or so bike along the canal. Before leaving the market, you can go to a Super C to get some groceries or ready-made food to bring it back to hotel. Ours has a kitchenette, ready-made food or ready-to-cook food works great for us. There are gas stations around the corner, just in case you need gas.
