“Decent but nothing extraordinary”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2013 via mobile

Went there 2x in 5 days only bought desserts, the fruit looked ready fresh and meats mostly interesting marinated items or deli meats. Only 2 rows of shops, one row of fruits & veggies the other for meat. Chocolate shop was at one end & sushi take out was at the other. Nothing else to see but a basic convenience store. Found it boring as a tourist destination maybe its better in the summer.

“Too Much Fun for a Food Lover”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

We'd read about Atwater Market in Montreal, but couldn't believe how great it actually was until we experienced it for ourselves. The Fromagerie Du Marche is amazing. We're lucky we don't live closer; our wallets would be empty and our clothes too tight! The staff patiently explained many of the cheeses in their extensive cheese collection and then proceeded to assist us in matching meats with our cheeses. The beer selection is a beer drinkers heaven and, again, the staff was ready to help with making choices. The bread from Premiere Moisson is worth the trip alone. The selection and quality of ingredients throughout the market was superior. We were in Montreal just two days and visited Atwater twice. It's that good.

“Go to Atwater Market!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

A visit to the Atwater Market in Montreal is a must! The bottom floor has vendor booths of fresh fruits and vegetables (even in Feb.), and shops with cheese, wine and condiments. Upstairs, there are booths with fresh meat, sausages and racks of ribs. The star for us was the bakery/cafe Premiere Moison Boulangerie. They offer fresh, artisan loaves of bread; beautiful puff pastry creations; and delicious pastries that are works of art. We tried the lemon tart, almond croissant, strawberry Danish, brownies and cookies......wanted to try it all, which looked amazing! They also offer a variety of sandwiches and salads. The Atwater Market is a local treasure - can't wait to go back!

“Don't stall in your efforts to find this market . . . . . . . .”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

I make a habit of searching out markets to wander around . This one we found whilst on a day cycling along the nearby canal . What an excellent place - a great historic building packed with vibrant stalls piled high with wonderful local produce - fruit & veg , meats and Deli products . The market apron is jammed with a rainbow of food purveyors - we opted for an excellent Thai noodle joint = great quality and value .Make the effort to find this place and the rewards will be plentiful.

“Baguettes, croissants, pate, cheese, jams, butchers, and produce!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

What can we say, market was awesome, food was fresh, people were friendly. You can get all of your shopping done here, as well as have an amazing breakfast at Premiere Moisson. We left with veggies, cheese, pates, and a Cote de Boeuf that was the size of my head, and everything was delicious.
