An enthusiastic two thumbs up for Hotel Gault. The hotel's design offered a handsome mixture of a traditional and historic building with a contemporary, smart and clean interior. We found the room extremely comfortable, but the minimalist décor might not be everyone's cup of tea. The welcome cookies were a nice touch.
The area around the hotel is somewhat quieter than many hotels deeper in old Montreal, but this suited us just fine as we weren't woken by late night partiers. Gault is also conveniently located just minutes away from a Metro station.
Staff were all very pleasant, accommodating, and pro-active, and were very good-natured when we wanted to switch to a room different from the one we were first given.
The hotel was well maintained. Only a few minor niggles – the water pressure in the shower could have been a bit stronger, as could the in-floor heating in the bathroom. Perhaps a small business lounge with computer and printer could be created in the lounge in the back on the first floor, alleviating the need to ask staff to print things out (although they were more than happy to do so).
All in all, Gault offered an experience that exceeded our expectations at a reasonable price.More
