“Old Town Location, modern rooms, helpful staff, fun roof terrace”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

Location is amazing, at the center of the old town, a short 15min walk to the financial district, 10min walk to subway train or 5min walk to the pier.
The Concierge helped us each day to book sight seeing and restaurant reservations which was a challenge given it was a national holiday week as well as the Annual International Jazz festival. Breakfast was a good mix of European and Canadian. No tea/hot pot in the room

The hotel and the location are wonderful but only out done by the service. The hotel staff is more than friendly and helpful. The front desk staff, the bellman, and valets were alert and ready to please at every moment. The hotel restaurant was possibly one of the finest in Montreal and extremely accommodating to unique dietary requests. The very best was the Chief Concierge, Maude Blaquiere. Her restaurant recommendations were superb and the personalized tour of Montreal she set up for us was incredible. We have done this many times all over the world but Maude’s expertise and care are second to none. She is a true professional and started working with us immediately. Every person in our finicky group was pleased beyond expectations. We will be back.

I've stayed twice in this hotel, and both times the experience was great! Very good location at old town, renewed building, large and clean rooms, friendly staff and great breakfast with a delicious croissant!

My husband and I stayed here 6 years ago and were just as happy with our stay at the Nelligan this time around. Classy, elegant and cozy. We had the king superior room and it was perfect (king bed, desk and seating area). Good air conditioning and comfortable bed. Our room faced the street - quiet and comfortable.

Nice continental breakfast (we got the bed, breakfast & parking package through the hotel's website). Fun rooftop terrace restaurant (refreshing mojitos). The lobby bar has ample seating and is a great place to have a glass of wine and relax. Theres another restaurant on the main floor but we did not try it. The hotel has a small gym with good cardio machines - elliptical, treadmill, bike, a universal (bit outdated) and free weights.

Great restaurants all around - walking distance and close to metro station (Place d'Armes). Highly recommended.

SERVICE-We were greeted at the front desk by a very welcoming group.
Very cordial and helpful, best front desk individuals i have ever come across(we are Four Seasons, etc.).
We were actually asked if we were familiar with the late night noise from the front rooms, but we decided to try it out the first night. They told us, "any issues, let us know tomorrow and we will gladly switch everything over to a back room". The noise was a bit much, so we moved with all their help.
Loved their attitudes and the extreme abilities in conversing in English as well as their native, French.
Concierge, Maude, was UNREAL. Extremely helpful and full of ideas.
Lobby restaurant staff so helpful and always smiling.

FOOD-Breakfast food in the astrium was great, best chocolate croissants EVER?
5TH floor terrace restaurant/bar was filled with hip crowd. Great Poutine, hambugers, salads and good selection of cocktails/beers. Servers were nice and always smiling and fun to talk to. Crowd was half Americans and half French Canadians and we had a blast.

ROOM-Had petite suite(317) which is very roomy. Very comfortable bed and beautiful bathrooms. Great price too.

LOCATION-Right in heart of Old Montreal(one of the prettiest areas we have ever seen.
Walk down street to Notre Dame basilica and down St. Paul street filled with restaurants with great food. Also, a block from water and History museum. We walked over the entire city in 2 days, so location was perfect. Short walk to Metro for other areas, such as Olympic Park.
Must see Olympic Park, McGill U. and the mountain-Mont-Royal.
Cab ride to great restaurants on St. Laurant(The Globe) and walk to a very clandestine restaurant bar, Flyjin.on St. Pierre.

We would come back here again next week if we could.
One of best hotels we have ever stayed at and now our favorite city.

Room Tip: 317 is petite suite in back of hotel. Sometimes some morning alley noise, but usually up, unless you...

Arrived on a late Friday evening, they had been kind enough to hold our room for us.
Chocolate covered berries were on the table to honor our anniversary, a nice touch.

Fifth floor location kept street noise to a minimum but the comings and goings from the Terrace Bar did present some noise late in the evening.

Wonderful top floor bar and eats, lively crowds and a good view.

Gracious employees at all levels, particularly the concierge as well as Veronica at the front desk.
Had small mix up on the bill which they fixed at once without a problem.

Overall, great location, unique rooms and friendly service. Enjoyed the trip.

Room Tip: I might suggest a room on the 4TH floor in the rear if you want quiet.

We liked the location and found our room to be very comfortable and clean. The bed was also very comfortable. However, we did find the hotel on two of the three nights to be very noisy in the hallway...into the wee hours of the night. There was also a fair bit of noise coming from the main street below. The terrace restaurant was so-so. The staff was friendly. A very helpful concierge. If we were to return to Montreal, we might look for another option.
