This boutique hotel is located conveniently to many fine restaurants, cafes, Old Montreal, Old Port, art galleries, etc. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable regarding the area. The rooms are large, clean quiet and comfortable. There are two restaurants in the building - the only one I can comment on is Versus. We had dinner there - very good - but expensive (in my opinion). We also had the continental breakfast - also expensive (in my opinion). But, the coffee is free, good and hot. Our overall experience was excellent.

After reading all of the reviews, we cancelled our reservation at the Hotel le St James and stayed at Hotel Nelligan. What a great way to start our week trip! We got to the hotel at 2pm and was told that our room was ready! Daniel, who has gained praise in other TA reviews, came through for us, as well. Spotting that we were exhausted, we had gotten up a 3am to catch our flight, gave us a quiet room and upgraded us to a Jr Suite. This hotel aims to please, and that's what they do. All staff members go out of their way to ensure that your stay is perfect. My husband has asked about things to do and a staff member called our room to suggest a street festival that was a 20 minute walk.

I can't say enough. The free drink, which you can use at their happening rooftop bar, the superb coffee in the lobby, the location, all ideal! Thanks for a memorable stay.

Room Tip: Room 421 was amazing!

I would like to personally recognize Natlia at the front desk for superior service. She took care of us from the moment we walked in the door through the very end of our stay. Upon check in she explained that she put us one floor lower than the top since there is a roof top bar and it can get noisy and she wanted us to be comfortable. When she saw us the next day she asked us if we were enjoying our room. She always greeted us with not only a beautiful smile, but personal recognition. In addition, she saw us out when she was not working and smiled and said hello and even stopped to answer a question for me about the hours of the local pharmacies. She is the prime example of someone who goes above and beyond her job duties. I will stay at the Hotel Nelligan many more times and Natalia is one of the reasons why.

Room Tip: Rooms on the fourth floor away from the bar side are quieter.

We experienced friendly and attentive service. No attitude from staff, all seemed fluently bilingual, though one sent me to a convenience store when I asked for a full service pharmacy. Rooms were spacious and clean. Bed was large and comfortable. Noisy late at night in second floor room near elevator. Easy access, great location in old Montreal. Free drink for each of us was a nice touch. Hotel felt safe as a function of many attentive staff at all hours. We would recommend and happily stay there again.

Room Tip: Second floor room near elevator was noisy from hallway conversations.

The hotel is in a prime location in the heart of the Old Town of Montreal. Although not directly on the water front of the St. Lawrence river it is a very short walk to the excellent promenade and marina.
Every member of staff that I came across provided efficient and friendly service. They all wanted to help as much as possible.
The hotel is very tastefully decorated. There is exposed brick/stone work, natural wood and subtle colours throughout. Local artists works hang on the walls.
Our room was large with a bed that ranks very highly on the comfort scale (it was about 7 feet wide). The bathroom was very spacious and well stocked with complimentaries.
Food was fantastic. For breakfast hot food could have been ordered but we chose to have the cold buffet as there was such a good choice, such as cold meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, toast, bagels, cereals. The evening meal in the restaurant, Verses, was superb because of both the food and the wonderful service that we had from our waiter (I am ashamed to say that I did not get his name). The meal came in a little on the expensive side but I thought it was worth it. There is also a roof terrace bar and bistro which is very popular with both guests and locals alike
We spent the first two nights of our trip to Canada at the Nelligan and I could not have ask for a better start to our holiday.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the hotel may be quieter

Second time in the old Montreal area and first time here. Location is fantastic but what really stands out is the very attentive service especially at the concierge. They find solutions and go well beyond expectations.

The great thing about the Nelligan is its location, in the heart of Vieux Montreal. Extremely convenient to so much.

The bad thing is its location. Noise is a bit of an issue. We had a room on the second floor in the front. Noisy bar across the street, especially in to the wee hours.

But, if you are looking for peace and quiet, the heart of Vieux Montreal probably isn't for you anyway. Montreal is a lively vibrant city. And this part of town is even livlier. Not Times Square, more like, say Temple Bar in Dublin. The noise, crowds, and traffic are a part of what makes the place.

And our room is probably the noisest, being the closest to the street.

Like we will next time, make sure you get a room in the back, quieter, side.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and bilingual. The lobby is a very nice relaxing place to chat and have a drink. Cozy fireplace. The rooftop terrace is very nice, though the view is nothing special.

We handed the doorman/valet the car keys on arrival and didn't see it until we left. That was a bit pricey, but worth it. We didn't need it, and Old Montreal is no place to be driving and parking anyway. Cabs and walking suffice.

The room was spacious and wonderful. Included a cute fake fireplace for atmosphere, and a bit of extra warmth on a chilly drizzly day.

A very nice hotel in a great location. Get a quiet room in the back and enjoy.
