We decided that we needed some time out after a family loss. We took a train from Smiths Falls to Montreal Central. From there we took a taxi to our hotel. We enjoyed walking the cobble streets of Old Montreal. Even though the weather was damp and drizzle most of the time. The three days that we spent there were great. It brought back memories of Europe. Our hotel room was very nice. But, the hotel restaurant prices were out of our league. We had a simple breakfast for $35.00 - about $15.00 more than we usually pay. From then on we ate at the surrounding restaurants.
Instead of using the high priced drinks, chips, nuts etc., that were in our room - we purchased them from a small grocery store on the same block as our hotel. For the price that we paid for our room ( $299. a night for small suite - hotel with no swimming pool) I thought that something would be free with the price of the room. Even a small bottle of water was $4.00. I couldn't drink the water from the tap because of the chlorine. I am sensitive to chlorine.
The best part of our trip was relaxing in our hotel room and enjoying the area of Old Montreal " Tres Beau !. We are so happy that we took a train and didn't have to worry about parking or driving. It was the perfect time of year to go by train to enjoy the surrounding colors of autumn.

Room Tip: The hotel is only a block from the water front which was great. Right in Old Montreal close to every...

We loved Old Montreal and we loved Hotel Nelligan. Upon check-in, the receptionist suggested a room on a high floor in the back of the hotel. It was quiet and the quality of light was very good as we woke up each morning.

We loved being in the middle of all the action, the lovely restaurants, the waterfront so near for morning walks and evening strolls. We enjoyed our morning breakfasts in the open-air patio with a selection of complimentary English newspapers.

The staff members went out of their way to provide great service and managed to make us feel special even though there were two weddings taking place there during our stay! That took some doing I am sure.

We will return to Hotel Nelligan on our next trip to Montreal. We hope to return soon. Our trip was in mid August and already it seems a lifetime away.

Room Tip: We liked being on the 4th floor in the back of the hotel. It was quiet and our room was large and lo...

The staff at the hotel Nelligan went above and beyond to meet the needs of my high-end clients who made daily changes to their large reservation. The sales team was extremely patient and despite the constant changes maintained a freindly attitude. The clients, who were traveling on business, truly enjoyed the hotel and have requested it for future trips back to the area. One employee in particular, Kat, did everything she could to get rooms that 'weren't' available, and make accomodations that normally would not be there. They made sure our clients felt very special the entire time. The Nelligan is an extremely well run establishment, that was a pleasure to work with. Thanks Nelligan!

From the moment we checked in and were 'upgraded', we felt special staying in this fashionable boutique Hotel in the French Quarter of Montreal.
The room was very comfortable, comfortable bed, large writing desk, stereo, i pod docker, huge TV, log fire and a very well equipped bathroom.
The concierge team were really helpful with their dining suggestions and sightseeeing options, arranging everything. Their recommendations were spot on.
The only reason they don't earn an outstanding rating from me was the quality of the breakfast. It just didn't hit the sort of mark I would have expected.
We would most certainly stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here on 24-25 september. From the minute we walked in we loved it. The girls on reception are very friendly and the concierge was very helpful with restaurant recommendations. We were given a great room on the third floor with a beautiful bathroom which had a jacuzzi. We had just checked out of a terrible hotel so the Nelligan for us was bliss. We loved the location too, the old town is by far the best part of Montreal.

What a lovely blend of charm and luxury! Hotel Nelligan was reserved for us by a friend who lives locally in the Montreal area. It was a fabulous choice! We loved just about everything about it. The location in old town, the kind and efficient people and the respect for the old while recognizing the convenience of the modern were all much appreciated. The breakfasts were quite good. Only the free wine was mediocre... but it was free after all.

We stayed here for three nights in September - what a wise choice! This boutique hotel is worthy of all of its accolades on Trip Advisor. The service is exceptional, and Melissa, our concierge, was extremely helpful and knowledgable. What wonderful recommendations she had!! The hotel is "first class" in every respect. Because of the reviews on Trip Advisor about noise and the fact it was Labor Day weekend, we asked for a quiet room. Even though they were sold out, this was not a problem and our room was extremely quiet. We would return here in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room
