Owner description: Laurentian Mountains are so close to Montreal that you can easily go skiing for the day. In winter, there is also dog sledding and ice skating. Other times of the year, enjoy whale watching, mountain biking and kayaking.

If you get to Montreal on or near Thanksgiving weekend, be sure to take the time to drive north of the city to see the Laurentians in their fall splendour. Get off the highway, pick a small town or village to visit and eat local fare.

The Laurentians are gorgeous mountain range stretching from just north of St-Jerome to well past Mont-Tremblant. A full day can be spent in either Saint-Sauveur, Ste-Agathe or Mont-Tremblant. Lots to see and many restaurants to choose from. St-Sauveur for its quaint village and picturesque valley with a busy arts festival and music every weekend in summer and 100's of places to eat, Ste-Agathe for the lake and downtown core, Tremblant for the mountain and tourist village with its festivals, food and shopping.

After travelling to a number of cities, it was lovely to have a day in the country. As we were in Montreal too early for the fall (autumn) colours, we were able to see the colours appearing in the mountains. We took a full day bus tour which included a short trip on a very pretty lake and visits to a couple of the villages. The tour was a little longer than it could have been, particularly as we were near the end of the hotel drop-off list, but it was a relaxing day out.

I attended a KlezKanada week in the Laurentian Mountains at a Bnai Brith camp. It was a wonderful week filled with Klezmer music . One could take classes, attend lectures, attend concerts, folkdance and enjoy swimming and boating. There were poetry workshops as well as Yiddish classes, literary lectures and choir singing..a great way to spend a week in the Laurentian mountains near Montreal.

First, the view is nice. We were there and it was so warm; we felt like summer. Nice little towns, lots of art galleries, many shops, easy to travel. Indications are clear.
