Owner description: Laurentian Mountains are so close to Montreal that you can easily go skiing for the day. In winter, there is also dog sledding and ice skating. Other times of the year, enjoy whale watching, mountain biking and kayaking.

The Laurentians are gorgeous mountain range stretching from just north of St-Jerome to well past Mont-Tremblant. A full day can be spent in either Saint-Sauveur, Ste-Agathe or Mont-Tremblant. Lots to see and many restaurants to choose from. St-Sauveur for its quaint village and picturesque valley with a busy arts festival and music every weekend in summer and 100's of places to eat, Ste-Agathe for the lake and downtown core, Tremblant for the mountain and tourist village with its festivals, food and shopping.

“Get out of the city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

After travelling to a number of cities, it was lovely to have a day in the country. As we were in Montreal too early for the fall (autumn) colours, we were able to see the colours appearing in the mountains. We took a full day bus tour which included a short trip on a very pretty lake and visits to a couple of the villages. The tour was a little longer than it could have been, particularly as we were near the end of the hotel drop-off list, but it was a relaxing day out.

“KlezKanada”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

I attended a KlezKanada week in the Laurentian Mountains at a Bnai Brith camp. It was a wonderful week filled with Klezmer music . One could take classes, attend lectures, attend concerts, folkdance and enjoy swimming and boating. There were poetry workshops as well as Yiddish classes, literary lectures and choir singing..a great way to spend a week in the Laurentian mountains near Montreal.

“Hire a car and GO”

First, the view is nice. We were there and it was so warm; we felt like summer. Nice little towns, lots of art galleries, many shops, easy to travel. Indications are clear.

“30 minutes for great skiing, dining and spas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

There are a variety of mountains to ski, trails to cross-country and snowshoe, great little villages to visit, and outdoor spas on running streams, to experience. It's greatest point, is that these mountains are an easy drive from the island of Montreal.
The ski hills vary in size and cost. The closest is Avila, and the furthest is Mt. Tremblant. It's possible to be on the hill after work within 30 minutes for night skiing, and be home by 10pm. There are specials to check out for Mums with kids. Some hills offer free babysitting services and afternoon rates.
The village of St. Sauveur, St. Agathe and Chantecler are special. Esterel is the lastest in renovated hotels with a great view onto a lake for a day trip of fine dining and cross-country trails. The Polar Bear Club is one I have experienced on the Simon River in st. Sauveur.
