“Always Impresses”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013

For business lunches this location never fails to satisfy.
From the high level of professionalism exhibited by the staff, a skilled bartender ( can you make a Negroni), and excellent lunch selections to say nothing of the remarkable dessert variety, this adjunct to the QE's Beaver Club is well worth a visit.

“A great way to end our first evening at the Hotel Queen Elizabeth”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

We travelled with a group of five from Oregon to Montreal. Air travel is not my favorite thing, and we were quite tired when we arrived. After checking in and unpacking a bit, we got some maps and suggestions of sites from the concierge and headed to this bar. It was handy, which was attractive at the time. It turned out to be a lot of fun. We had light dinner items from the menu, a generously poured set of martinis, and the staff helped us organize the stack of materials provided by the concierge. These guys were real Montreal residents, not "representatives of the hotel-sponsored vendors." They were great and shared which events were less than worth our time/money, and which places they thought we would really enjoy, based on our visit with them. It was a very pleasant way to end our day in the air (3 connections) and start our short, but very enjoyable trip to Montreal.

“Food not so great and overpriced!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

We ate here one evening and were not too impressed with the food or the place. There was a piano player pounding out depressing old Beatles tunes on her piano which created a depressing atmosphere. We each ordered a sleeve of domestic beer which cost almost $10. I ordered the sweet potato soup and returned it after it arrived. It reminded me of vomit as it had that consistency and a bit of a sour taste with pieces of chicken in it. They replaced it with a small pepperoni pizza which tasted like it was hastily prepared by a 8 year old kid. This 6 inch pizza cost about ;$12.50. One of the servers was a fat older dude who looked like he slicked his hair back with a tube of brillecream. Very tacky looking for a bar in a posh hotel. We don't recommend eating here unless you are desperate. And do avoid the sweet potato soup.

“Total crap! Horribly incompetent and slow service.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

Ordered the fish and chips with a side of gravy. The food took too long to come and when it did, the chips were cold, the fish barely warm and the side of gravy was forgotten altogether. Upon sending the plate back to the kitchen, they simply reheated everything in a microwave oven. Additionally, for the price of the entree, i expect better than what was obviously Captain Highliner fish sticks....i mean really???

“Nice spot for drinks”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

This bar in the lobby area of the Queen E in Montreal is a lovely spot for drinks. The Fairmont cocktails are always a treat, although at about $13 each, they are a bit dear. A nice selection of snacks (chips, olives, mixed nuts) accompany the drinks, which is a bonus. But skip the food. The onion soup was unpleasant, with a cloudy broth that tasted a little fishy. The burger was dry.
