“Great Family Place”

We arrived late at night. 7 of us with little ones. Denis the concierge greeted us with smiles, parked our car, helped us to the room, brought a stack of towels and colouring books for the kids. Such a nice greeting. Sébastien and the gentlemen on the day shift were just like him and bent over backwards making us feel so welcome.

The rooms are big, nothing fancy but well kept and really clean. The staff get families and you will feel right at home and relaxed. Excellent value and central location. I have stayed in Montreal lots and this is the best spot for a good size family....

We just completed a three night stay at Le Square Phillips Hotel & Suites (in town for Rogers Cup.) We stayed in a one bedroom suite that was updated, clean and extremely spacious. The suite had a kitchnette / dining area. Highly recommend this property. The staff was very friendly only making the stay that much more pleasurable! Location was superb, right near St. Catherines (shopping, restaurants.) Old town Montreal was a bit of a hike but not an unbearable walk by any means. Good access to the network of bike routes within the city. My wife and I travelled with our three children who thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We cannot wait to make a return trip!

I have stayed here twice over the past three years and each time I have been wowed at how large the rooms are. The views each time weren't the greatest but I will take the space given the fact that I have two small children who love to run. Extra awesome was the kitchen, again perfect with little ones. Location for us was ideal with access to all the major sites. This is my go to hotel when I visit the beautiful city of Montréal.

My husband and our three kids, aged 8, 14 and 18, stayed in the family suite for three nights. The room was huge, clean and beautiful. We were on the 10th floor, and a corner suite and were very pleased with how quiet it was. The kitchen was great, and had everything we needed. The breakfast served by the hotel was lacking a bit, but what do you expect for free? We bought bagels at Fairmount, and some cream cheese and opted to eat breakfast in our room. We did go to the breakfast room to get orange juice and tea, and it was crazy in there. Eating in our own kitchen was very nice, and it even came with a dishwasher, since this mom didn't feel like doing dishes on vacation!

The valet service was excellent. Just called 5 minutes before we needed to go anywhere, and it was ready and waiting when we came down to the lobby.

Our only complaint was with the front desk staff. The second night we stayed, the air conditioning was not working. As a result, our bedroom was 25 C all night. My husband who has difficulty with heat, spent the night in a chair, trying to get cool air from the a/c unit. None of us got much sleep that night. The next morning, we went to speak with the front desk staff, to see if something was wrong. They informed us they'd just found out the hotel's unit was broken and was being fixed. We told them how bad our night was, and all we got in return, was blank stares. They didn't even apologize to us. Just stared. My husband finally asked if it would be a problem at night again, and they said it would be fixed. I will add that the day we left and spoke to the manager about our second night, she did apologize, and charged us the second two nights at the rate we got for the first night, which was nice of her.

Would I go back? Absolutely. I highly recommend it, especially to larger families, as it's one of the only hotels (if not, the only hotel), that accommodates larger families.

This was like staying in an apartment in downtown Montreal. Complete with full kitchen and dining area. We were in town for McGill graduation and had lots of family coming and going. We loved the location and the convenience. The staff was helpful and good in a medical emergency too. A bit expensive, but considering the location and the number of people it can accommodate, not a terrible deal.

We only stayed at this Hotel for one night while in Montreal. The location was good for the downtown area (near Ste. Catherine - The Bay) and a 10-15 minute walk to Old Montreal. The staff was welcoming and helpful, and the concierge staff was also very professional.

We would certainly recommend this hotel for families and people staying for longer periods of time. The rooms are quite spacious and very clean, and are equipped with a kitchenette.

The only negative was the continental breakfast room layout. There were long cues and people had to weave through the lines to retrieve cutlery or condiments they might have forgotten. The paper coffee cups were on the opposite side of the coffee urns so if you wanted to get one, you lost your spot in line. On the morning we were there, the coffee was terrible. Since the hotel has suites, many people were coming in to load trays to bring back to their families in the rooms - this caused very long waits while trays were piled high with food and beverages.

Despite this small item, we would certainly return and recommend this hotel.

We spent two nights at Square Phillips and wanted to stay there longer. We booked a King studio, which would have been fine for the two of us, but were upgraded to a full suite. The room (610) was approximately 1,000 square feet and my wife and I were lost in it. The room included a large living room area with a desk, large kitchen and dining area and large bedroom. The high ceilings made the room seem especially spacious. It would be perfect for a family with several children. The hotel is an easy walk to a number of Montreal's attractions and to the metro, which provides access to all of Montreal. The pricing was very fair and lower than many other downtown hotels with far fewer features.

Room Tip: Try to get one of the suites on the side of the building.
