The Sofitel is ideally located for attending the Symphony, the Opera, the music school and many museums. It is not far from St. Catherine's Street and a little shopping at Simons, Ogilvey and Winners (one does have to shop at a full price range). We returned from the events too late to want to have a meal but found that the lounge was ideally located with a nice selection of "bar snacks". Okay, the food was expensive but very good. I highly recommend the onion tart. Even the $7.00 bowl of fries was terrific - hot, crispy and served with little jars of ketchup, mayonnaise and mustards. We kept our room at 19.2 (very cool) as the beds had feather duvets and feather mattress covers. For those who are always cold, these beds will be your answer. For others, drop the room temperature and be ready to toss the duvet back from time to time.
