“Great location for the value!”

The staff here is wonderful and helpful! The room was rather large and clean. The walking distance to the old city is not bad. The hallway noise was very minimum. However, be aware that in this area they are quite a few street people milling about. However, they did not cause any problems.

Room Tip: We got a room at the end of a hallway. It was perfect.

This is a delightful hotel! It was built in the 1920's, however the rooms are very comfortable and modern. The wi-fi worked in our room, the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The best part is the hotel is less than 2 blocks from the main metro train station making it easy to travel to any part of Montreal. It is across the street from the university of Quebec at Montreal, and the cross street St. Catherine is a major shopping, dining, and pub area with part of the street a pedestrian only area. Our room faced St. Denis street and had street noise. We were there for 3 nights before leaving on a st. Laurence seaway cruise. It was comfortable, a good value, and convenient.

Room Tip: Facing St Denis street is somewhat noisy but it has a good view of cathedral tower. Inner rooms are...

We booked this hotel for 3 nights this past week, and were welcomed with a free upgrade when we arrived. I had chosen the hotel for the fact that it was within walking distance of everything. Parking was reasonably priced, I liked the wood floors and ability to open the windows in the room. Everything was clean and well taken care of. I was pleased that it was quiet- no other room or hallway noises could be heard. We were also fortunate in that there is a vacant room where we were directed to put our bicycles so that we didn't have to leave them in the car or outside. I will definitely stay here again as I usually come to Montreal once a year.
The only thing I would have liked to have was a room safe.

Room Tip: Many of the rooms face the courtyard and the other rooms, but since there really isn't a good vi...

Walking distance to most of the key things you want to do in Montreal, helpful staff, nice rooms (actually, for some reason we got a room that had 3 queen beds in it! might have been the only one they had left... but if you have a large group who doesn't mind sharing, ask for that one I guess!). There was no view out the window (just looking at another wall right next door), but this might have contributed to the very quiet and restful sleep we had. Highly recommend this place!

My husband and I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We checked in on July 7, 2014 and left on July 12. It has a European feel but for a great price. The lobby, elevator, and hallways are very clean and the room was spotless and super cute. The AC window unit was more than enough for the size of our room, we were very comfortable. The TV was nice, the bathroom was spotless, and it was very peaceful. I've read that some people said it was noisy but we didn't experience that at all. The front desk people were so nice - particularly one woman with dark hair who cracked up at my husband's attempt to speak French and one man with dark hair and glasses who helped us make reservations at a restaurant.

We were within walking distance of the Latin Quarter (really cool restaurants and bars), downtown Montreal, Old Montreal and the Old Port, Gay Village, and St. Catherine Street. You're also within walking distance of the Berri-UQAM metro stop. We are not public transportation people (we're very suburban) but found the metro easy and safe to use.

The only thing about the area that surprised us - the amount of homeless people (especially around the Berri-UQAM metro stop). Most of them just ask for change or say nothing...we only experienced one homeless man who sounded mad when we walked away but he didn't follow us or anything.

Our only hotel complaint was that housekeeping every day but when they came, they were very thorough. Besides that, we love this hotel and will definitely be back!

The hotel was very close to the old city and everywhere else we wanted to go in Montreal, such that we walked everywhere. The room was clean, definitely a little older and pretty simple, but I'd take that over a high-price and poor location any day. The real draw for me was parking. Parking was $16 for 24 hours in an indoor garage. Very important to me as I had read parking in Montreal can be difficult, expensive, and unsafe, sot his was a real asset. Service was very friendly, the concierge helped us find our way around and suggested a few local festivals, one of which we ended up attending and loved! Hotel was quiet at night and we slept well.

This is an older hotel that doesn't look that great from the outside but has very nice rooms. We were upgraded at no cost to a Jacuzzi room, although the view out the window is minimal (another building). The bed was large and comfortable, but the air conditioner was needed in summer and a bit loud. Watch out for the control on the shower as it was reversed and the water was hot. You also had to hold down the handle on the toilet for a full flush. These quibbles aside, the location is perfect - right near the Berri-UQAM Metro stop and a short walk to Old Montreal and the Port, the Village, Place des Artes, etc. The 747 bus from the airport stops just blocks from the hotel. Staff were helpful and allowed me to print boarding passes at the end of the trip. I would recommend this hotel but the price does go up during major events. No breakfast, but plenty of good places nearby in the 1500-1600 blocks of St. Denis.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back away from the main street.
